Prayer: Father, thank You for a High Priest in Yeshua. Perfect, without blemish, holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. Amen.
Reading: Psalms 110 key: vs. 4
4 Adonai has sworn, and will not His mind:
“You are a Kohen forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
Attention: Recently I ventured to Eastern Washington to visit some friends. One of the men whom I saw on this trip had a 1950 Cheverolet pickup truck. He said he was considering buying a “Forever Truck.” I thought maybe it was a slogan by one of the manufacturers and not having heard the term, I asked him, what is a “Forever Truck?” He had coined the phrase to mean, the last truck he would ever buy. I laughed as our concept of forever and God’s concept of forever are vastly different.
Melchizedek. Have you ever heard of this man? I will bet you have never heard of a son surnamed, Melchizedek. There is much mystery around this man. He is mentioned in both the Old (Genesis & Psalms) and New Testament (Hebrews (5, 6, &7) of the Bible.
Melchizedek is first mentioned in Genesis 14:18-21. His name, Melchizedek, comes from two Hebrew words: malak (king, ruler) and sadaq (righteous, just, innocent). Most men are either king or priest, but few are both. Notice that David recognizes the Messiah as a “forever priest.” How is the Messiah a forever priest? He died once for all and lives forever.
Not only does David call Him a forever priest, the writer of Hebrews affirms, “So also Messiah did not glorify Himself to be made Kohen Godol; rather, it was God who said to Him, “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father,” And He says in a different passage, “You are a kohen forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”
From now on when you see the name Melchizedek in scripture, you will know of whom the writer is speaking about. He was both a priest and king and was established like Yeshua as a kohen (a priest) forever. The distinction between Melchizedek and Yeshua is this, Yeshua is a Kohen Gadol (a High Priest) forever.
Action: Yeshua is my forever Kohen Gadol!
Yield: When I bow to Yeshua, I yield to Him.
Engage: When I claim Yeshua as my forever Kohen Gadol, I am engaged with the Holy Spirit in worshipping Him.
Relationship: I acknowledge Yeshua as my Lord, Savior, and Kohen Gadol forever.
Prayer: Father, I love knowing that I have a forever High Priest in Yeshua! There is no other and I have no need of another. Yeshua is my Kohen Gadol! Amen.
Memory Verse: Hebrews 7: 24-26
24 But on the other hand, the One who does remain forever has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, always living to make intercession for them.
26 For such a Kohen Gadol was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens
