I wait for Adonai!

Prayer: Father, I ask for patience in waiting for You. Your timing is not my timing, and Your ways are not my ways. Help me to conform to Your ways and Your timing. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 130 key vs. 5-6
I wait for Adonai, my soul waits,
and in His word I hope.
My soul waits for my Lord,
more than watchmen for the morning,
watchmen for the morning

Attention: Are you aware that Adonai is not bound by time and space? He is not governed by time, He owns time. Twenty days ago, we studied Psalm 110 in which we established, through the writing of the psalmist, Adonai is a Kohen forever. That is why scriptures proclaim Adonai’s word to last forever. Adonai is forever and so is His word.

I have a favorite story about my son when he was three years old. We had just moved to California and his maternal grandmother had called us and she had spoken to him. It was February and Valentine’s Day was approaching. She informed him he would be receiving a package soon and to watch for the UPS delivery man. In his mind, to watch for his package meant today. So, he troops right outside and begins watching for his package. We lived in a fourplex apartment at the time, in the upper right (street side), unit.

Fifteen or twenty minutes later he opens the screen door, stomps inside and announces to his mother, “that darn PUS man, I’m going to punch him in the nose.” He wanted his gift package from grandma, and he wanted it now. At his age and in his mind, he had waited long enough. (Notice he had the right letters for the UPS man, just in the wrong order!). We all got a good laugh, but it illustrates a point about Adonai. He is not bound by time, as time is His to control.

Notice that the concept of a watchman is introduced by the psalmist. A watchman was a designated guard, stationed on walls, to watch for an approaching enemy. Do you know that those who are in Messiah, also have a guardian? Peter tells us, “For you like sheep were going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls (1 Peter 2:25).”

We get so impatient because we are bound by time. Our bodies have a beginning and an end. Our spirit is eternal. We are faced with the prospect of choosing our eternal destination. I implore you to choose Adonai. Choose life everlasting with the One who gives everlasting life.

Action: I choose to place my life in the hands of Yeshua, the One who loves me and died for me on Calvary. He resurrected and lives so that I might live with Him eternally.

Yield: I give my life, my heart, my soul to Yeshua.

Engage: I will live for Him who died for me.

Relationship: The Holy Spirit is the guardian of my soul.

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 2:25 “For you like sheep were going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.”
