Rescue me!

Prayer: Father, what a timely topic from the journal of David. My request today is the same, rescue me from evil men and protect me from violent men. I stand in need of Your benevolent protection. Rescue me today! In Yeshua’s name. Amen.

Read: Psalm 140 key: 1-4
For the music director: a psalm of David.
Rescue me, Adonai, from the evil man.
Protect me from the violent men—
who devise evil in their heart—
every day they stir up wars.
They sharpen their tongue like a serpent’s
—viper’s venom is under their lips.

Attention: I have never felt so vulnerable and yet so protected. Are you awake? Does this journal of David’s seem contemporary? It is like he is writing about today. His plea has urgency, “Rescue me… Protect me from the violent men—who devise evil in their heart—every day they stir up wars.”

The world is posturing today, nations aligning with nations against each other. Did you read on in Psalm 140? David says, “Keep me safe Adonai, from the clutches of the wicked. Protect me from the man of violence…. they have hidden a trap and cords for me. They spread out a net…they set snares for me.” David recognizes that evil men are hunting him and setting traps. Our leaders are doing the same, watching to see how we react.

David recognizes that Adonai is his “deliverance, his shield.” His plea, “Do not let their evil plan succeed!” In fact, David asks for Divine reversal, “May the mischief of their lips overwhelm them…. May calamity hunt down a violent man.” Adonai has brought about Divine reversals throughout history, in the Exodus, in the book of Esther, Daniel, David and Goliath, and the resurrection of Yeshua Messiah.

We need to fear for when Messiah Yeshua appears, all will be completed. David ends his journal, “Surely, the righteous ones will praise Your name. The upright will dwell in Your presence.” That is what it is all about. Seek His presence, stay in His presence and we one day we will dwell in His presence.

Action: I appeal to Adonai for protection from evil men and Divine intervention and reversal.

Yield: I entrust my life to Adonai.

Engage: I engage with Adonia for protection.

Relationship: I engage with the Supreme in protection and provision.

Prayer: Father, You want me to ask You for the daily need of protection and provision. You are my source! You are my deliverer; in You I will trust. Amen.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 3:5-8

Trust in Adonai with all your heart,
lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear Adonai and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your body
and refreshment to your bones.
