Prayer: Father, the sun is out this morning. It is amazing how much sunlight influences my attitude. Everything seems right, it seems better, when the sun is shining. The sun is also one of Your creative forces which You gave us as a sign of Your ability, majesty, and glory. I am basking in Your creative force today. I praise You! Amen.
Reading: Psalm 148 key: 3-5
3 Praise Him, sun and moon!
Praise Him, all stars of light.
4 Praise Him, highest heavens,
and waters above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the Name of Adonai,
for He commanded and they were created.
Attention: According to the psalmist, there is nothing created which should not praise Adonai. Everything is compelled to praise Adonai. The psalmist is building his case towards a climactic statement in the final psalm. We will reach his decree in a couple of days. Nothing is, no one is, beyond the purvey of praise to Adonai.
Scripture even tells us what Adonai will do if we do not praise Him, “I tell you that if these keep silent, the stones will shout out!” (To get complete context, please read Luke 19:34-40). If man stays silent and does not praise Adonai, the rocks will cry out with a shout. May we never experience rocks which replace us as the instruments which praise Adonai. He is telling us, if we do not praise Him, all manner of His other creation will.
Even the psalmist calls on sea monsters, fire and hail, snow and vapor (rain, mist, dew), storm wind, fruit trees and all cedars, beasts and all cattle, crawling things and winged birds, kings of the earth and all peoples (nations), princes and rulers of the earth, young men and maidens, old men (like me) and children, “Let them praise the Name of Adonai, for His Name alone is exalted. His glory is above earth and heaven.”
Do we believe the psalmist today? Will you join Him in giving Adonai praise? Remember, Luke recorded Yeshua’s words, if we remain silent, He will replace us.
Action: I will praise Adonai today and all my days, for He is worthy of my praise!
Yield: I give myself over to an attitude of jubilant praise!
Engage: Praise is something I do!
Relationship: I give praise out of the abundance of my heart.
Prayer: Father, please accept my praise today! I cannot keep silent. I am compelled to give You praise. Amen.
Memory Verse: Psalm 103: 1b-2
