What do you understand that we do not understand?

Prayer: Father, no one knows me better than You. No one knows my heart better than You. Help me to discern what is of You and from You, so that no man can persuade me otherwise. Amen.

Reading: Job 15 key: vs. 7-9
“Are you the first man to be born?
Were you brought forth before the hills?
Do you listen in on God’s counsel?
Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
What do you know that we do not know?
What do you understand that we do not understand?

Attention: The wisest man who ever lived is attributed to Solomon for wisdom was his request of God. It is from Solomon in the book of Proverbs that we are told, “with many counselors there is deliverance” (11:14). Solomon is not saying that all the counsel received from many counselors is spot on, but in the seeking from many, the proper solution is given. We still need discernment and that is where our relationship with the Holy Spirit is critical.

When we are not walking with the Spirit we tend to rely on our own wisdom and thought process. When we are walking with the Spirit, we are seeking His guiding and leading. We are watching and listening to His prompting. This kind of discernment is like a divine GPS.

Solomon said it best when he said, “Trust in the Adonai with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

The friends who tended to Job were operating in their own wisdom and reasoning. Job was able to refute them based on his own relationship with God. Remember the first chapters tell us that Job was “blameless and upright” and there was no one on earth like him. He prayed to God daily for the safety of his children and he would consecrate them. Job was a worshipper of Adonai.

The deeper your relationship with God and the more knowledgeable you become in the scriptures; you will possess the tools to be discerning. Everyone who gives you a message is not sent from God. Is your Spirit sensitive monitoring system operating at peak capacity? Are the messages the world is sending you from Adonai? Are the messages from your friends Spirit led counsel? You must be able to discern what is from God and of God. Apart from the Holy Spirit you will be vulnerable to all kinds of wrong advice and counsel. Stay close to God and He will stay close to you. James 4:8 is the answer, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Stay close to God my friend and He will stay close to you.

Action: I will stay close to God through daily scripture reading, journaling and prayer!

Yield: Staying close to God is yielding to His Spirit.

Engage: Staying close is staying engaged with God.

Relationship: God desires oneness with us as His bride.

Prayer: Father, I want to always stay close by Your side! Draw me nearer, blessed Lord. Amen.

Memory Verse: James (Jacob) 4:8
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded!
