Prayer: Father, I love meeting with You in the first part of my day, early in the morning. Reading Your Word is the counsel, wisdom, and inspiration I need to start my day. You are better than any hot beverage! Amen. Reading: Psalm 11 key: vs. 1 1 For the music director, a psalm of David. In Adonai I have taken shelter. How can you say to my soul: “Fly like a bird to your mountain? Attention: In many of the Psalms, the psalmist paints God as his shelter, refuge, or strong tower. He knows who God is to him. I have heard the phrase before which says, “He doesn’t have enough sense to come in out of the rain.” I was watching one of my farm videos I follow on Facebook recently. They have Alpacas (the husband of the family calls them “Donkey Poodles”), and it was raining buckets and the Alpacas were standing in the downpour while he implored them to get out of the rain. My dad raised turkeys when he was young, and I recall him telling me that turkeys are dumb and do not have the sense to run for shelter in a hailstorm. They would stand out in the storm and be pelted to death unless he herded them into the coop. Do we possess enough sense to take shelter in the Almighty, like David? Most of us, perhaps for the big stuff, will call on Him, but why don’t we just stay there? Why do we wander away from the refuge of His presence? Take shelter today from the attacks of the enemy and the hardships of life. Action: I will take shelter today in Adonai. Yield: I am yielded when I take shelter in the Most High! Engage: I will engage with Adonai by sheltering in Him. Relationship: A full relationship abides in Him. Prayer: Father, I will harbor in Your presence and the safety of Your shelter. Amen. Memory Verse: Matthew 23:37 & Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! Music Video: Paul Baloche – Your Name |
