Prayer: Father, may I never be foolish about You and Your existence. May I never be so arrogant as to doubt Your Sovereignty. In Jesus’ name, amen. Reading: Psalm 14 key: vs. 1-2 1 For the music director, of David. The fool said in his heart: “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. 2 Adonai looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. Attention: There is a popular statement which says, “Better to be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.” Today’s key verse removes all doubt. I hope you are not among those who do not believe in God’s existence. Modern man continues to question God’s existence because they do not see His involvement in our lives. God has a characteristic which is called “longsuffering,” (2 Peter 3:9) which we falsely construe as inactivity, aloofness, or that God does not care. We love to make our own decisions, determine our own path and rebel about God’s design. In fact, we are ignorant if we don’t know God’s Word, of the consequences of wrong belief and sin (rebellion and disbelief). The first scripture which comes to mind regarding the consequences is found in Romans 1: 18-32. I encourage you to read it or refamiliarize yourself with this passage. While God is longsuffering, He also has a limit to His longsuffering nature. Paul tells us that God will “give us over” to our evil desires (v. 24), to our shameful passions (v. 26), and give us a “depraved mind” (v. 28). We can continue in the quicksand of sin which leads to depravity or receive the freedom of Jesus as a slave to sin. Do not be foolish, as “God is not mocked” (Gal. 6:7). Our actions have consequences. Let us daily approach the King and His throne of grace and mercy. Thank you for joining me this year in the process of living for Jesus and knowing Him from the scriptures. Allow the Holy Spirit to mentor you this year in a wholly new dimension in knowing Him. Action: It is a foolish man or woman who does not know and follow Jesus. I purpose today to engage in the daily process and discipline of journaling with God’s Word. Yield: I am yielded when I am daily involved in the process and discipline of scripture with the aid of the Holy Spirit as my mentor. Engaged: The daily process will engage me with the Holy Spirit. Relationship: The Holy Spirit engages me through His inspired word. Prayer: Father, I praise You for Your word is rich and wise. Keep me from foolishly believing the lies the enemy propagates against me. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path and keeps me from sinning against You. In Jesus’ name, amen. Memory Verse: 2 Peter 3: 8-9 8 But don’t forget this one thing, loved ones, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some consider slowness. Rather, He is being patient toward you—not wanting anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance. Music Video: Take my life/ Holiness – Scott Underwood |
