You!

Prayer: Father, Thank You for Your presence and counsel. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 16 key: vs. 2
I said to Adonai: “You are my Lord—
I have no good apart from You.”

Attention: What have you found in God? David declares, “In You (Adonai) I have found shelter (vs. 1)”; “You are my Lord (vs. 2)”; “You cast my lot (vs.5)”; “You make known to me the path of life (vs. 11).” Can you, do you, make these same claims about God?

In any relationship, there is an imbalance if only one party declares their love for the other. God has declared His love for you many times in scripture, non-greater than the all-encompassing John 3:16 “For God so loved the world,” yet Romans 5:8 tells us that “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.” To the Israel nation He declares, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” David declares his allegiance to Adonai. He declares Adonai as The source of safety and shelter, of wisdom and knowledge (the path of life) and he has “cast (his) my lot” with Adonai.

“Cast my lot” is not a common phrase today but it is a declarative statement when one has declaring allegiance. I have chosen You as my God! David is declaring that Adonai has revealed to him, “the path of life,” the path to eternal life with God. Jesus declared to us in John 14: 6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me.” He is the pathway to The Father. He is the pathway to heaven.

Action: I will “cast my lot” with God and declare my allegiance to Him today!

Yield: I am surrendered when I declare to God my love and loyalty.

Engaged: I am engaged when I declare my allegiance and love to God.

Relationship: God declared His love a long time ago and that has not changed. Relationship becomes complete when I declare my love to Him.

Prayer: Father, You tell me in Your Word that the rocks are going to cry out (Luke 19:40) Your praise if I don’t do it. I don’t ever want the rocks to cry out because I didn’t declare Your praise. May I always declare Your glorious praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.
