Do I Know Him?

Prayer: Father, help me to plug into Your heart. David has a great heart and that is why You selected him, “a man after Your (My) heart, who will do My will (Acts 13:22).” Help me to develop, like David, a heart for You. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 20 key: vs. 8
Some have chariots, some have horses,
but we remember the Name of Adonai our God.

Attention: Samuel declared to Saul the heart of God in withdrawing His anointing from Saul. God was now seeking through Samuel “for Himself a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13:14).”

David is blessing others in this psalm. In the first six verses, he uses the word “may” God do this or that for you. “May he answer you; May He send you help; May He remember your (sacrifice); May He grant your petitions (prayer requests); May He grant your desires; and May Adonai fulfill all your petitions.” He was plugged into a personal relationship with The Sovereign.

Verse eight which I selected as the key verse today, reminds me of Jeremiah 9:22-23. Jeremiah declares the word of Adonai in these two verses filled with wisdom. God says, if you are going to boast at all, boast that you boast of this, “that (you) he understands and knows Me.” This is my goal in doing the Choose Life Journal. Everday that I accomplish my journal, I add another day of understanding and knowing God. I am still a long way off, but I am another day closer to knowing Him.

Boasting is not of the Lord and most of us cannot boast of knowing Him. It is a lifetime pursuit and process.

Action: I will engage with the Holy Spirit in pursuit of knowing God through the Choose Life Journal system.

Yield: I am yielded when I engage in the process daily.

Engage: I am engaged with the Holy Spirit when I pursue knowing God.

Relationship: We are only in relationship with God when we are actively, daily pursuing knowing Him.

Prayer: Father, help me to discipline myself to the daily process of meeting with the Holy Spirit and Your Word. Transform me I pray because I do not like the old man. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 9:22-23
22 Thus says Adonai:
“Let not the wise boast in his wisdom
nor the mighty boast in his might
nor the rich glory in his riches.
23 But let one who boasts boast in this:
that he understands and knows Me.
For I am Adonai who exercises lovingkindness,
        justice and righteousness on earth.
For in these things I delight.”
It is a declaration of Adonai.
