August Edition
What is happening at First Place Ministries? We have been working on a new book titled: Choose Life Journal: A Transformational Journey with the Word & Spirit. This book is a companion to the Choose Life Journal phone app. I encourage you to download our free app in your app store today. You will be set up with the book’s release in September, to engage with us in this transformational journey with the Holy Spirit. Each journal is also available to be received via email. You may subscribe on our website at www.firstplaceministries.com
By December 31 of this year, we will have completed two years of journals which will bring us to the halfway point in our four-year plan. My hope is that several subscribers will have become quite accomplished by the end of this four-year cycle and will be willing to share their journals with our extended family of subscribers.
Last month I was honored to meet Scott Hord, Missionary to the Unborn. He was invited to join the sidewalk ministries of Everett in conjunction with local organized efforts in Everett for the unborn. His ministry will be the August focus.
I have met several passionately compassionate people on the sidewalk in support of Two Hearts Pregnancy Center and other pregnancy, pro-choice support in Everett. It is through these ministries that I have met Dave McNeil. I plan to interview Dave as a local voice for the unborn.
If you do not have a local, personal cause you have engaged in, please consider being an advocate and voice for those who have no voice.

SPOTLIGHT
Scott Hord declares himself as a Missionary to the Unborn. Here is a part of his testimony from his website, www.scotthord.com
Welcome to my journey to rescue babies from abortion. God has called me to be a missionary for the unborn children of Nashville and our nation! For the last ten years, I have been the lead pastor of Christ Life Community in Smyrna, TN.
Six years ago, while in this role, the Lord called me to engage abortion! So, for the last six years I have gone to the abortion facilities of Nashville and lovingly and truthfully engaged women and men entering these facilities. I go twice a week for four hours a day, or eight hours per week. Currently, we are averaging one baby rescued per week! To date, we have rescued 201 babies from these facilities. Once the rescue takes place, we then follow up with the moms and meet whatever needs they might face.
Please use the link above to read the rest of his story.
Also, I had the pleasure of interviewing Scott. Click here to see that video interview.
EDUCATION:
Our educational systems are critical to our nation’s health and success. I want to begin with a quote by Vishal Mangalwadi, born and raised in India where he studied philosophy in secular universities and Hindu ashrams. After studying in Swiss L’Abri for six months, he returned to India to serve the rural poor through several creative projects. This frontline engagement with oppression and corruption sent him to jail, helped prevent the revival of widow-burning, and led to politically organizing peasants and lower-caste “untouchables.”
Here is a quote from his book, The Book That Made Your World: How the Bible created the Soul of Western Civilization:
“Why did my university in Allahabad have a church, but not a Hindu temple or a Muslim mosque? Because the university was invented and established by Christians. Neither colonialism nor commerce spread modern education around the world. Soldiers and merchants do not educate. Education was a Christian missionary enterprise. It was integral to Christian missions because modern education is a fruit of the Bible. The biblical Reformation, born in European universities, took education out of the cloister and spread it around the globe.”
It is biblical commission and Christian zeal to fulfill that commission which built, established, and promoted education. It is Mr. Mangalwadi’s position that the biblical ethic was first established in the founding of the universities and over the course of the years, they have lost their way and have been taken captive by humanist thought. More on this in following editions.
