Prayer: Father, water plays such a prominent role in Your kingdom. May my soul long for You as the deer pants for water. What a beautiful illustration by the psalmist. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Amen.
Reading: Psalm 42 key: vs. 8
8 Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls.
All Your waves and breakers have swept over me.
Attention: Ponder for a moment the number of miracles or stories in the Bible which involve water. I’m waiting! Are you having trouble with the assignment? If you are, I encourage you even more to persevere and engage in the Choose Life Journal process. It will transform your life, guaranteed!
For starters, let’s go to the Genesis account…. the first day was …light, the second day was “water.” Then let’s go to Exodus. What did God do to the Sea of Reeds (Exodus 14:21-22)? How about what happened three days into the wilderness (Exodus 15: 22-25). Or the account of Moses smiting a rock (Numbers 20:11)? What poured forth? In the book of Jonah? Was water involved in his story? Or what was Jesus’ first miracle (John 2:1-11). What did John the Immerser use to immerse repentant people (John 1:26). What did Philip use to immerse the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:36-39). Or Paul and Silas in immersing the Jailer and his household (Acts16:31-34).
I think by now you know the answer! Water. Do you realize that you symbolically came through the waters when you were birthed and born again? When the world around us say, “where is your God,” will you testify that He lives within us? Jesus had a conversation with a Samaritan woman of whom He asks for a drink. While she gave Him natural water, He offered her eternal, living water. He is the “Living Water (John 4:10).”
Have you been offered “Living Water?” Have you received “Living Water.” Every day you come to the Word; you are receiving a fresh drink for your soul. Come thirst my friends!
Action: I will drink daily from the Living Water of God’s word through the Choose Life Journal plan.
Yield: I surrender to eat and drink daily from His word!
Engage: Engaging with the Holy Spirit gives me renewed strength, confidence, and vigor.
Relationship: I am in full relationship with God when I nourish my soul with His Word.
Prayer: Father, even David’s Psalm 23 says, “He (You) restores my soul.” Thank You for restoring my soul every time I come to Your Word! Amen.
Memory Verse: John 4:10
10 Yeshua replied to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
