Utilize the weapons of God

Prayer: Father, it feels to me in reading this psalm that the writer is presumptive in assessing his self-righteousness and the true nature of his nation. He is accurate when he says, “You know the secrets of the heart.” Help me to be honest and transparent before You. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 44 key: vs. 2-4
We have heard with our ears, O God
—our fathers have told us—
of a work You did in their days, in days of old.
With Your hand You displaced nations, but You planted them.
You afflicted peoples, and You drove them out.
For it was not by their own sword that they took possession of the land,
nor did their own arm save them.
But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your face—
    for You favored them.

Attention: Surely, the psalmist had heard of the victories which God had performed on behalf of the nation of Israel. The battle of the Exodus and then the battles led by Joshua in taking possession of the land promised to Abraham and Moses. They knew from the oral history expressed from the mouths of their fathers that God had favored His people and still does. I encourage you to become familiar with the Messianic Jewish leaders of today who are keeping us informed of what is going on in Israel. Israel is a key instrument in end time prophecy. The mainstream media is looking at current events with a non-biblical lens and a worldly perspective.

I hope you have come to know that our weapons are not God’s weapons. Paul tells us in his 2 Corinthians 10: 4-6 letter about “the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds.” Even for “tearing down false arguments,” of which there are many of today! I encourage you to read chapter 10 fully. For Paul sets the record straight in verse 12b when he says, “But when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they have no understanding.” We see this play out every day. Man thinks he is so wise. God laughs.

It is imperative that we know Who to place our confidence in. The psalmist declares his trust in God by saying, “In God we make our boast all day and Your Name we praise forever. Selah (vs. 9).”

Action: I will engage in the battle with the weapons of prayer, faith, and the memorized Word of God.

Yield: I am surrendered when I engage in the battle daily.

Engage: I am engaged in the battle when I begin to use the weapons God has given me.

Relationship: I am in full relationship when I call on and activate God in the battle.

Prayer: Father, I praise You for entrusting me with weapons which tear down strongholds. Your Word is powerful. May I experience increasingly, more of Your power against evil. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 10:4-6
For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds. We are tearing down false arguments and every high-minded thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah— ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
