A Cry for Justice

Prayer: Father, today’s psalm sounds very contemporary. Injustice is not a new thing. It has spanned the centuries and been history of man. You, however, are just and will right the wrongs which man cannot. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reading: Psalm 54 key: vs. 6-7
Surely God is my helper.
My Lord is the supporter of my soul.
Let evil return to my foes.
Silence them with Your truth!

Attention: Injustice is not a new thing as evidenced by the psalmist’s plea for justice. The judges of this world are still haunted by the same biases and limitations of man. I am simple enough to call it a spiritual condition. Paul tells us in Romans 6 that there are two masters, we could also say two fathers. There is a Heavenly Father who is characterized by veracity and there is another who is characterized as the father of lies (John 8: 36-47).

We carry the DNA of the father to whom we are born. If we are not “born again” we are of the father which Jesus proclaimed as the ‘father of lies.” If we are truly “born again” we need to start living as redeemed children of the Father of heaven, Adonai. Our fruit, our actions declare to which father we belong.

One will care for the orphan, the widow, and the poor. The other will oppress and take advantage of those who are vulnerable. The child of Adonai via spiritual birth loves Him and knows His voice. The created, non-spiritually regenerated does not, because he cannot. These are Jesus’ words, not mine. Please read the John 8 passage. Jesus is truly clear.

I encourage you not to get caught up in the narrative of the world. Listen to God and His Word. Stand back from what the world wants you to see and observe the fruit. The fruit and actions, not words, will tell you whose father they have. Skin color is not the factor, the condition of the heart is the basis. The poor and disadvantaged come in every culture, every race, and every nation. The world narrative has propagated a lie that the creative God is everybody’s Father. Jesus proclaimed it is not physical birth but spiritual birth which determines your DNA.

Action: I know who my Father is and will proclaim to whom I belong.

Yield: To which father do you knowingly or unknowingly yield?

Engage: I intentionally engage with my Father Adonai beginning today.

Relationship: I am in relationship with one or the other, there are no other options. Choose today whom you will serve.

Prayer: Father, by my actions, I unknowingly choose every day who I will serve. It grieves me to know that for years, I thought I was serving You. We can so easily deceive ourselves and be deceived. Thank You for being patient with me and bringing me to the awareness of my sin, reconciling me through Jesus and redeeming the lost years. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Memory Verse: John 8:47
47 He who belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you don’t hear is because you do not belong to God.”
