Prayer: Father, unless I utilize Your wisdom, I have no hope of exercising justice. Your ways are just, man’s ways fall short of true justice. Amen.
Reading: Psalm 58 key: 2-3
2 Do you really speak of justice, O “gods”?
Do you judge with fairness, sons of man?
3 No, in heart you devise injustice.
Your hands weigh out violence on earth.
Attention: I decided to escape routine this last weekend and take in a movie. I went to see Spider-Man: No Way Home. I have seen trailers from the former movie series, and it was cool the way they worked former Spider-Man characters into the movie. In Spider-Man’s interaction with Dr. Strange there was a line which caught my attention, “Your weakness Peter, is morality.”
In the context of the battle with evil, Peter’s persona is to help people and deliver them from evil. He struggles to kill his nemesis even though his nemesis has no morality about killing Spider-Man. This quote captures our struggle with our enemy who seeks to kill and destroy us. Movies like this tend to frame our real-life battles as fantasy and make believe. They frame evil as make believe and harmless.
There are real battles going on today all around us and in the heavenlies. We must awaken others to the reality of evil and expose it. David is calling on God to “break their teeth in their mouth,” and “sweep them away.” We to must call God into action through our prayers. For the result will be, “Then men will say: ‘There really is a reward for the righteous. There really is a God who judges on earth.”
Action: I have a responsibility to call God into action against evil.
Yield: I am yielded when I see justice scripturally.
Engaged: I am engaged with the Holy Spirit in transforming my mind and heart.
Relationship: Full relationship comes when I conform to His image.
Prayer: Father, I was created in Your image. Help me be conformed now to Your image as I am transformed by Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Memory Verse: Romans 8:29
29 For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
