Cherish the Word!

Prayer: Father, it is what holds your heart’s attention and affection which matters. May You always captivate my heart and may I always cherish You and Your Word! Amen.

Reading: Psalm 66 key: 2-4
Sing the glory of His Name—
make His praise glorious.
Say to God:
“How awesome are Your deeds!
Because of Your great power,
    Your enemies cringe before You.
All the earth bows down to You,
    and sings praises to You.
All sing praises to Your Name.” Selah

Attention: Vocabulary.com defines “cherish” this way: To cherish something is to care for it deeply, to treasure it, like the way you cherish the time you spend with a favorite person you don’t see often.

They go on to expound: “The verb cherish is related to words that mean “costly” and “beloved.” When people really value something, often because they feel emotionally connected to it, they cherish it. Many of us cherish our first cars, and later in life, we cherish the memories of those days, driving around with our friends. Generally, people don’t cherish things just because they cost money; they cherish experiences that matter to them.”

This makes sense to me. If one identifies themself as born again of the Spirit, we must also come to understand ourselves as a bride who comes to cherish the attributes of her Bridegroom, Jesus. Do we become captivated by His attributes and character? Do we cherish the book which tells us all about our bridegroom? Do we long to know Him and see Him face to face?

The word of the psalmist today implores us to “make His praise glorious” and shout, “How awesome are Your deeds!” Let’s “all sing praises to His name.” Selah.

Psalm 22:4 says, “Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel!” Some translations read, “God inhabits the praises of His people.” He dwells in the midst of those who praise Him. Do you want God to draw nigh to you? Begin praising Him and He will draw nigh unto you because you have drawn your heart and affection towards Him. No matter when you last praised the Lord, today is the day. Express your heartfelt praise for His lovingkindness, His longsuffering, His patience, His kindness and that His mercies are new every morning!

Action: I will make today an intentional day of praise to God!

Yield: I am yielded when I praise God with all my heart, and mind, and soul!

Engage: I desire to be fully engaged with the Holy Spirit in praise of God.

Relationship: I am in full relationship when I am engaged in worship and praise of God.

Prayer: Father, my praise of You is immeasurable. My heart is full and my lips flow with Your praises. You are glorious! Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 11:33
33 O the depth of the riches,
both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments
    and how incomprehensible His ways!
