Make Vows to Adonai and Fulfill Them

Prayer: Father, I have made vows to You and before You. Help me to keep all vows that I make with You and before You. In Yeshua’s name, amen.

Attention: I have made many vows over the course of my life. Have you made vows to and before God? Most of us have recited marriage vows, signed contracts, and made vows to God. I know that I have. One of those vows for me was made to God in 1962, to live for Him. I made another in 1976 to serve Him and led to my attending BIOLA University.

A divorce years later, led me to feel that I had disqualified myself from ministry and from fulfilling my vows to God. Perhaps you have experienced a similar path and experienced divorce. In case you are feeling condemned for moral failure to fulfill your vows to God and before God, I want you to know that grace, and mercy, and forgiveness are available today.

I desire for you to not follow the path that I chose and wander in the wilderness of lies from the enemy, lack of acceptance as a single divorced person (from friends or the community of faith), or your own self-imposed captivity from an unrepentant heart. I encourage you to shorten that timeline and reconcile with God.

I spent over 30 years with unresolved hardness of heart until the Holy Spirit broke me and I repented. I was the man which Paul told young Timothy about. If you look at 2 Timothy 3:1-5, I possessed a “form of godliness but denying its power.”  Notice how that verse ends, “Avoid these people!” I think for good reason too.

God’s grace, mercy, forgiveness, reconciliation all is activated when we are willing to repent. It is a tough process, but the weight of the world will come off you when you repent. Sincere repentance brings the salve of restoration, refreshing, redirection and repurposing. This process will create in you a new person, a new attitude, a new vision for the future, along with the opportunity to fulfill the vows you once made to God.

Action: With a broken heart, I will seek to repent before God, today.

Yield: I am yielded when I come broken hearted before God and repent.

Engaged: I engage with God in the process of reconciliation when I repent.

Relationship: Relationship with God is restored when I repent.

Prayer: Father, I pray for those today who are reading this journal and have broken vows which were made to You. I have been there and thank You for graciously and mercifully restoring my broken heart and broken vows. You have forgiven me, restored me and repurposed my life. Amen.

Memory Verse: Romans 11:29
29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
