Covenant with David’s Seed

Prayer: Father, Your promise is Your word, and Your word extends forever. I stand on the veracity and infallibility of Your word. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 89 key: vs. 4-5
“I have made a covenant with My chosen one.
I have sworn to David My servant:
‘Forever I will establish your seed,
and will build your throne from generation to generation.’” Selah

Attention: Years ago, it used to be said that a man’s word was as good as gold. With his word and a handshake, a man would make deals. But man has always gone back on his word and now, even with a contract, men break their original agreements all the time.

Adonai is not like man; He keeps His word. His character, His being, is above and beyond man’s ability. Yeshua became the standard as He became flesh and dwelt among us. He was sinless because He was God. His God nature prevailed over his flesh nature. He was fully God and fully man.

So, when God makes a covenant with Abraham, Noah and David, the covenant is an extension of His character and never expires. His word or covenant lasts forever! How long is forever? Forever, and forever, and forever! We can count on it.

As we study the Bible together, keep this question in the back of your mind. Do the covenants Adonai made with His covenant Hebrew people extend to us? I have my belief and you will see my comment over the course of our study together, but this is not about me. It is about you and your discoveries in the Word. My discoveries have led to my writing and publishing because my discoveries disagree with some of what I have been taught in Sunday School, from the pulpit and even University. If you have been taught to think critically, I encourage you to apply the skill. If you have not been taught to think critically, search the Scriptures asking the Holy Spirit the “who, what, when, where and why” questions as you investigate the Word.

I like the people of Berea, of whom we are introduced too in Acts 17: 10-12. Notice, they did not study the Bible daily to refute Paul and Silas, but to confirm that what they were being taught was “true” and accurate. We do well today, to do the same.

Action: I will establish a daily Berean lifestyle of studying the Word and journaling.

Yield: Transformation begins when I yield myself to daily study of the Bible.

Engage: Transformation begins when I work with the Holy Spirit.

Relationship: Daily study, prayer, and worship bring a deeper, fuller relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the covenants which You have extended to man. Thank You for including me in Your plan for redemption through Yeshua which is only available through Him. Amen.

Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 29:28
28 “The secret things belong to Adonai our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever—in order to do all the words of this Torah
