Forty Days and Forty Nights

Prayer: Father, we complain about the weather. It is too hot, too cold, and it rains too much. Help me to accept that You have ultimate control of the weather, and each season has a purpose. Amen.

Reading: Genesis 7 key: vs. 10-12
10 After the seven days, the floodwaters were upon the land. 11 In the six-hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day, all the water sources of the great deep burst open, and the windows of the sky were opened. 12 Then there was rain upon the land 40 days and 40 nights.

Attention: I have witnessed all kinds of weather in my six decades of life. Snow, rain, ice, freezing temperatures, searing heat and drought (the absence of rain for continued periods of time). I had never seen ice rain till I attended insurance classes in Illinois in the early 2000’s. I saw cars come off the interstate that looked like they had been in a wind tunnel and had freezing water blown onto the cars. The ice was rippled in texture along the full length of the car. The weather conditions were so bad that my flight home that day was cancelled, and we all spent an extra day in Illinois. As I recall, there was another system coming in the next night and we had a small window to catch a flight out or chances were, we could be spending more than one day extra.

The storm Noah experienced was epic, never seen on the face of the earth. Did you notice that it rained 40 days and 40 nights as we all have been told? However, rain alone could not have created the conditions which brought flood waters “15 cubits higher, as the mountains were covered.” It took the combined efforts of “all the water sources of the great deep….and the windows of the sky were opened (vs. 11).

Did you notice that Noah was 600 years old when the flood came? Did you observe the instruction of Adonai about “clean and unclean” animals. Of the clean, seven pairs of each kind of animal. Of the unclean, a pair (two), male and female.

What was clean? An animal was considered clean if it had a cleft (split) hoof and chewed the cud. All other animals were considered unclean. Only those which were considered clean could be eaten or used for sacrifice.

So, who shut the door to the ark? Did you catch it? Adonai did (vs. 16b). For 150 days, nearly a half year, Noah and his family heard the storm surrounding them. We are told, “only Noah and those with him in the ark survived.”

The ark for survival today is Yeshua. Are you in the ark of His protection? Only those who have His mark, will be saved. I hope you will join me this year as we pursue together the knowledge of the Holy. Adonai says if you will seek Me, you will find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart (Jeremiah 29:12-13).

Action: I will seek Adonai with all my heart, every day for the rest of my life!

Yield: I give my heart, my all to Yeshua.

Engage: I am engaged in seeking Adonai with all my heart.

Relationship: My lifestyle relationship with Adonai is every day seeking!

Prayer: Father, is there any other way but Your way? Help me to seek You with an everyday lifestyle of seeking You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 29: 12-13
12 “Then you will call on Me, and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me, when you will search for Me with all your heart.
