Prayer: Father, I ask that my eyes may be opened to see new truth and revelation in Your Word. Amen.
Reading: Genesis 21 key: vs. 1 & 17a
Then Adonai visited Sarah just as He had said, and Adonai did for Sarah just as He had spoken.
Then God heard the boy’s voice and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven
Attention: Have you ever experienced a visitation from Adonai? Has He ever heard your cry and spoken to you?
Adonai never abandoned either Sarah or Hagar, or their sons. He was there all the time. He did for Sarah what He promised He would do. He did what he promised both Sarah and Hagar. He would make both Isaac and Ishmael “great nations.”
The distinction between the two women, Adonai visited (personal appearance) Sarah, but to Hagar, He sent an “angel of God.” One was given the promise of a child, Sarah, the other, Ishmael was the product of option B in trying to fulfill God’s plan through someone other than Sarah. Adonai did not turn his back on either women or sons. He blessed both women with a child, even though one was His plan, His choice for Abraham and Sarah. The question is God capable of fulfilling what He has promised and prophesied, in His own time?
Sarah got doubtful and tired of waiting. She was not confident that Adonai could accomplish through her and Abraham, what He had promised to do. Remember, she laughed when first told of God’s plan. Now at Isaac’s birth she proclaims, “God has made laughter for me!”
In getting anxious about God’s timing, have you struck out on your own and made your own choices? How did that work for you? Did you learn anything about being patient and waiting on Adonai?
Have you asked Adonai for something specific? A child, a job, a healing? I have asked Adonai for a specific request for several years and I have a certain prophetic scripture which I claim. The scripture makes a claim, that in the end times, He will do a specific thing. I am counting on the faithfulness of Adonai to fulfill His promise. I claim this promise of Adonai’s, and I believe I will see the fulfillment of His promise and my request because He is faithful.
Will you be so bold as to ask Adonai for something today? Something which is bigger than anything you can do on your own? And watch Him work on your behalf. I encourage you today to place your faith in the One who is faithful.
Action: I will ask Adonai today for something which only He can do.
Yield: I give my heart, mind, and soul to Adonai.
Engage: I engage with Adonai when I ask Him to do the supernatural.
Relationship: I am in relationship when I ask and rely on Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I testify of Your faithfulness to me today. May all who read this passage of scripture be encouraged to place their trust in You. May they cry out to You as Sarah and Hagar. Amen.
Memory Verse: Jeremiah 33:3
3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you—
I will tell you great and hidden things, which you do not know.”
