Prayer: Father, changes in leadership, spawn a new perspective about many things. Thank You for Your constancy and consistency which never changes. Amen.
The Bible Project: Exodus 1-18 https://bibleproject.com/explore/video/exodus-1-18/?utm_source=web_social_share&medium=shared_video
Reading: Exodus 1 key: vs. 8-10
8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 He said to his people, “Look, the people of Bnei-Yisrael are too numerous and too powerful for us. 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them, or else they will grow even more numerous, so that if war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and then escape from the land.”
Attention: Life has been good and favorable for the Hebrew nation of Israel up till now; however, as Joseph and his brothers die, Pharoah dies, and a new leader emerges. He does not know Joseph, or the former deal Joseph and his family were given. He only sees a growing, prosperous nation growing within Egypt and he perceives them to be a threat.
So, the new leader drives them into forced labor and deals harshly with them. God has a plan for His chosen people which he revealed to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, “I will make you a great nation” and “I will give this land to your seed” (Genesis 12:1-7). How does He get His people from point A to point B? Sometimes it takes unbearable conditions to occur in point A, to get us to point B.
I have almost always experienced a time of discontent prior to God preparing me for a move. We can get so comfortable and complacent, that it takes an act of God to create the desire and willingness to go where He wants us to go. I can guarantee, if it is God’s desire for you to do something, you will be miserable until you surrender and yield to God.
In the last chapter of Genesis, Joseph reminds his family of God’s promise to his fathers, “God will surely take notice of you and will bring you up from this land to the land that He swore to Abraham, Isaac, and to Jacob” (Genesis 50:24b). Moses tells us that “Bnei-Yisrael were fruitful, increased abundantly, multiplied and grew extremely numerous—so the land was filled with them” (vs. 7). God’s promise was fulfilled. It was the best of times, which now became the worst of times. The new king of Egypt was intent on subjecting God’s people to harshness and affliction.
Have you experienced the best of life and grown comfortable? Maybe you have left God behind because of your affluence and comfort? Is He attempting to get your attention? Does He have a plan for your life which has been revealed to you, but you refuse to go?
I can assure you; you will never be content and satisfied till you yield to His plan. You can run like Jonah. You can try to hide like Adam. You can try to do it your own way like Samson, or King Saul. You will never be at peace till you surrender and do it His way.
Action: I will yield to what I know to be God’s will and plan for my life!
Yield: I surrender to His will and plan.
Engage: I will engage with the Sovereign in living for Him.
Relationship: He is God, and I am not.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the examples of Scripture which reveal to us how to live with You and each other. Speak to us individually as we study the book of Exodus together! In the name of Yeshua, amen.

For freedom, Messiah set us free—so stand firm, and do not be burdened by a yoke of slavery again.
