Who is Adonai?

Prayer: Father, when others start to legislate rules in defiance of You, they understand not what they do. They bring judgement upon themselves. We can do the same in our lives. Help me to learn today, to live life Your way. Amen.

Reading: Exodus 5 key: vs. 1-2
Afterward, Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, “This is what Adonai, God of Israel, says: Let My people go, so that they may hold a feast for Me in the wilderness.”
But Pharaoh said, “Who is Adonai, that I should listen to His voice and let Israel go? I do not know Adonai, and besides, I will not let Israel go.”

Attention: Have you ever felt that the heat has gotten turned up on you from all directions? In today’s reading, Adonai is getting ready to do some amazing things with and for the Bnei-Yisrael, the children of Israel, the Hebrew nation.

All that the Hebrew nation can see is the pain they are feeling. Pharoah has turned up the heat and increased his demands for production of bricks. What he and the Hebrew nation does not know, is that Adonai is preparing to play hard ball. Pharoah has hardened his heart. He asks Moses, “Who is Adonai, that I should listen to His voice and let Israel go?” Then he tells Moses, “I do not know Adonai.”

How many times have you also asked, “Who is Adonai,” that He should make all the rules? Who is Adonai that I should listen to Him? Until you know Him, until you submit to His sovereignty, you will continue to walk in defiance.

The nation of Egypt was a polytheistic culture. Over the next ten chapters, we will witness the most strategic demolition by Adonai, of a nation, eliminating one god with each plague. Adonai is demonstrating his power to Pharoah, Egypt, and the Hebrew nation.

How appropriate timing is the destruction of Egypt, in preparation for the Ten Words or Commandments Moses will receive. When Adonai declares, “You shall have no other gods before Me,” He means No Other gods. There is none other. He alone is God. He alone is all powerful, almighty, invincible, all knowing, all seeing, incomprehensible, He is Adonai.

Have you settled this issue of “Who is Adonai.” Yeshua asked the same question to His disciples upon their return from having been sent out to heal and deliver. In Matthew 16:15, Yeshua asks Simon Peter, “But who do you say that I am? His reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.”

Can you say that unequivocally Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God? Do you know Him as Lord?

Action: I confirm without any doubt, Yeshua is Lord of my life!

Yield: I give a new, my life to Yeshua.

Engage: Order my steps today, Lord!

Relationship: I walk with Yeshua every day.

Prayer: Father, may everyone reading this journal today, be able with full conviction of heart, say, “Yeshua is Messiah and Lord of my life! Amen.

Memory Verse: Matthew 16:15-16
