Prayer: Father, may we understand that we are Your sanctuary. You dwell within us. May we allow You to make a sanctuary within us which is worthy of Your habitation. Amen.
Reading: Exodus 25 key: 8-9
8 “Have them make a Sanctuary for Me, so that I may dwell among them. 9 You are to make it all precisely according to everything that I show you—the pattern of the Tabernacle and the pattern of all the furnishings within—just so you must make it.
Attention: In this chapter, God gives specific instructions regarding making a sanctuary for Him. The sanctuary housed the very presence of God, and this was the essence or purpose for the instructions. For God wanted to dwell among His people. One man was to be the intercessor or instrument, through whom God would speak to the people.
What is the definition of a sanctuary? It is a place set aside or designated as, sacred or holy. It is also typically and place of worship. In this passage, a sanctuary was a place where Adonai dwelled, or met with the High Priest yearly. The sanctuary which Adonai designs for Himself, is detailed over the next several chapters. All the furnishings for the inside of the Tent of Meeting are detailed with specific measurements with wood, metal overlays, curtains, bowls, jewels, and instructions for use and handling.
Do we understand that God still wants to not only dwell among His people, but He also dwells in us? We are His sanctuary now through the new covenant, Messiah Yeshua, Jesus Christ our Lord. Even His name Immanuel means, “God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
One of the key scriptures which confirms God making us His new sanctuary or dwelling place is 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Ruach ha-Kodesh who is in you, whom you have from God, and that is not your own?” Awareness of the Spirit’s indwelling us, should change the way we live, think, and act before God and men. Awareness should also change how we pray. How many times have you heard someone pray, “Lord be with us.” If we are true followers and know that the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we need not ask for His presence, but thank Him for His indwelling presence.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20
19 Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Ruach ha-Kodesh who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
