This Distinguishes Us from All Others

Prayer: Father, teach me this morning, what makes us different from the non-believing, non-following world. In Your name above all names, amen.

Reading: Exodus 33 key: vs. 15-16
15 But then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with me, don’t let us go up from here! 16 For how would it be known that I or your people have found favor in Your sight? Isn’t it because You go with us, that distinguishes us from all the people on the face of the earth?”

Attention: Moses poses a good question to Adonai. How does the rest of the world, know that Adonai (God) is with us and we have His favor?

There was an Academy Award winning film when I was a youth titled, “Chariots of Fire,” based on a true story of a Christian athlete named Eric Liddell, who ran in the Olympics. One of the key lines in the movie has always stuck with me, “God made me fast. And when I run, I feel God’s pleasure.” He was doing the assignment he felt God had given him. He felt God’s pleasure about his obedience.

Moses realizes that he does not want to do anything apart from God’s presence. His appeal is, “If Your presence does not go with me, don’t let us go up from here!” Oh, that we come to the realization that we cannot only do anything or accomplish apart from His presence, but like Moses we do not even want to experience life apart from His presence.

Yeshua (Jesus) tells us as much in John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing.” Are we listening? Are we comprehending? Are we applying the truth and gravity of doing life without His presence?

Jesus’ parting words to His disciples were, “And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20b). This is why I end every journal with the phrase, “Remember! Abide in Yeshua, today!”

Action: I choose today to invite the Holy Spirit to dwell within me and manifest His presence daily!

Yield: I give my life, heart, mind and soul as a living sacrifice to Adonai!

Engage: I engage with the Holy Spirit today as a lifestyle exhibited before the world.

Relationship: I love Adonai with all my heart, mind, and soul.

Prayer: Father, I feel like the apostles when asked by Jesus if they were leaving Him too, replied, “Where would we go? You have the words of eternal life.” There is none other. You are God and God alone. Amen.

Memory Verse: John 15:5
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing.
