Prayer: Father, why shouldn’t those whom You infuse with Your Ruach, have the ability to make the most ingenious designs ever made by the hand of man, Your creation! Amen.
Reading: Exodus 35 key: vs. 35
35 He has filled them with wisdom of heart to forge all the works of an engraver, an artisan, and an embroiderer in blue, purple, scarlet and in fine linen, as well as weaving—they can perform every craft and ingenious designs.
Attention: The world has admired the works of classical artists for centuries. Whether it is in works of sculptures, paintings, or musical composition, the genius is understood in the listening or viewing. I have had the honor of singing in some of the great classical works like Handel’s Messiah. The experience of singing with a 150-voice choir and orchestra is powerful. The classical compositional lyrics are straight from scriptural texts.
I have not had the privilege of seeing Michelangelo’s paintings on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, but I am captivated by the skill of painting upside down and proportional perspective. One of his most prominent paintings is of the Creation of David, where God and David’s index fingers are extended towards each other.
Regardless of the theological implications of these great works, the genius cannot be denied. In today’s text, Adonai confirms with Moses, that it is He who has endued specific men and women for specific tasks. He did then and continues to fill men and women with the “Ruach of God,” to make “ingenious designs.”
If you are an artist of all kinds of art forms, an architect, a design engineer, any career path and you acknowledge Adonai as the Supreme, Sovereign creator of the universe and you want to glorify Him, I hope that you recognize the gifting and the ability to design “ingenious designs” comes from the original ingenious Designer!
Action: I acknowledge that the genius comes from outside of me, from the Divine!
Yield: I give the glory to Adonai!
Engage: My abilities come from the Designer of designers.
Relationship: My inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Father, I praise You for the daily inspiration which flows from You to me every day.
