Torah

Prayer: Father, instruct me, teach me, I pray. I desire to know You in a deeper, fuller, way. Amen.

Reading: Leviticus 7 key: vs. 37-38
37 This is the Torah of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the trespass offering, the ordination offering, and the sacrifice of fellowship offerings, 38 which Adonai commanded Moses at Mount Sinai, on the day He commanded Bnei-Yisrael to present their offerings to Adonai, in the wilderness of Sinai.

Attention: For a period of about ten years, I officiated both girls and boys high school basketball. To be a high school official, you must attend a training provided by a local designated Association of Basketball Officials. They provide training in both the rules and the proper way officiate a game. They teach you how to work as a two person, or three person crew and how to communicate to the scorers bench and your crew, each time you blow the whistle. Each year, every official is recertified with a nationally approved test of questions. Each official must pass the test and then purchase their own uniform, pants, shoes, shirt and whistle.

I played high school basketball, so I understand the team concept and the basic rules of basketball. It was a new experience however, to see the game from an official’s eyes. As an official, you must manage the game and enforce the rules equally and impartially. You must communicate with the players, coaches, fans and scorer’s bench. There is a lot to learn, including rules, hand signals, what to watch and look for, and what rules are being emphasized that year.

The more I understood the game of basketball from both a player and an official, I appreciated watching televised games. I found I was watching the players and the officials, the whole game.

The more I study Leviticus, the more I appreciate grace. Today we read about the various offerings of the Torah, burnt offering, gain offering, sin offering, trespass offering, ordination offering and fellowship offering. This is just the offerings. We still have the various sacrifices and the celebration or feast weeks and much more. All these elements were part of the Torah or what is called The Law. The priests were busy fellows, teaching and administering all the facets of the Law or Torah.

Understanding the Law, helps us to understand and appreciate grace. The more you know helps us appreciate what we have been delivered from and no longer under the Law.

Action: I thank Adonai for His abundant, marvelous grace!

Yield: I give my heart to the grace of God.

Engage: I choose to receive God’s grace and mercy.

Relationship: I love being in relationship with the Almighty, Holy One.

Prayer: Father, I am thankful for being under grace and not the law. Praise You! Amen.

Memory verse: Galatians 3:24-26
24 Therefore the Torah became our guardian to lead us to Messiah, so that we might be made right based on trusting. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. 26 For you are all sons of God through trusting in Messiah Yeshua.
