Reading: Leviticus 9 key: vs. 23-24
23 Moses and Aaron then went into the Tent of Meeting. When they came back out and blessed the people, the glory of Adonai appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came out from the presence of Adonai, and devoured the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.
Attention: I have never been reliant on wood fire until I moved into a home which had a woodstove insert. Now during the winter or cold days, we start a fire first thing in the morning. It has been fascinating to watch the flames as they lick their way along a piece of wood. I have never noticed the translucent appearance of wood once the piece is totally transformed from wood to fuel. The embers glow. I understand now why people sit in front of the fireplace and peer into the fire as they sip their brew.
In the scriptures, Adonai is portrayed as a “consuming fire.” In Leviticus 9, the witness of Moses tells us that “Fire came out from the presence of Adonai, and devoured the burnt offering and the fat on the altar.” Adonai manifest before the people. “When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.”
In the book of Acts, the apostle Luke witnesses the Holy Spirit as “tongues like fire spreading out appeared to them and settled on each of them (Luke 2:3).”
In the book of Exodus, Abraham witnesses “the angel of Adonai appeared to him in a flame of fire from within a bush. So, he looked and saw the bush burning with fire, yet it was not consumed (Exodus 3:2).”
Notice that Adonai can consume and not consume. Supernatural manifestation which consumes the sacrifice but does not consume or harm what Adonai does not want to harm.
I have witnessed and experienced other manifestations of the Holy Spirit, and I have heard His voice, but I have not witnessed fire. I have witnessed people shouting and falling on their face. I have experienced the overwhelming presence of Adonai and tears flowing down my face. I have laid in bed, and groaned at the overpowering presence of Adonai filled the room. I have experienced visions and dreams.
How you experienced a manifestation of Adonai’s presence? If you have not, I encourage you to pray for a manifestation of His presence. He promises you will find Him, if you seek Him with all your heart.
Action: Today I will pray for a manifestation of Adonai.
Yield: The act of surrendering your life to Adonai.
Engage: The action of asking Adonai to order your steps.
Relationship: I am one with Adonai by His Spirit.
Prayer: Father, I pray today for everyone who is reading this journal. May they experience a manifestation of Your presence which will change their lives forever. Amen.
