Prayer: Father, I pray that I would move according to Your Spirit, just as the Hebrew nation moved according to a physical manifestation in a cloud. Amen.
Reading: Numbers 9 key: vs. 21-23
21 At times the cloud remained only from evening until morning. When the cloud would lift, they would set out. Whether by day or by night, when the cloud lifted, they would set out. 22 Whether for two days or a month or a year, while the cloud remained over the Tabernacle, Bnei-Yisrael remained camped and would not set out. But when it would lift, they would set out. 23 At Adonai’s word they would encamp, and at the mouth of Adonai they set out. They obeyed Adonai’s order by Moses’s hand.
Attention: I find it interesting that in today’s cyber world, we store things in a virtual cloud. In the time of Moses, Adonai manifested His presence in a cloud. According to the movement or setting of the cloud, they either camped or moved. The frequency of movement all depended on the cloud, which represented Adonai’s presence.
There have been spiritual songs created based on today’s passage which speak of the need of God’s people to move when the Spirit says move.
It was an act of obedience for the Hebrew nation to move when the cloud moved and for them to camp when the cloud did not move.
Are we as sensitive and obedient as the Hebrew nation? It would seem to me that we should be even more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s moving, when we lack the physical presence of a cloud.
What are the evidences of the Spirit’s moving? In Acts 2 the Ruach came as a “mighty rushing wind,” as “tongues like fire,” and they all “began to speak in other tongues (languages)” as enabled by the Ruach. Today, we may experience inner promptings, tongues, groanings, and manifestations of being drunk in the Spirit. Dreams are another way the Spirit communicates with us.
Whether you have experienced or believe in manifestations of the Spirit, are you sensitive to the Spirit’s urging or promptings? When someone is brought to mind, do you pray for them or even move to contact them?
Action: I choose to be more sensitive to the Spirit’s moving in my heart, life, and mind.
Yield: I choose to submit to the Spirit’s leading in my life.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Spirit in guiding my life.
Relationship: I choose to walk in step with the Spirit as my guide.
Prayer: Father, You have given me Your Ruach as a mentor and guide, to transform me into Your image. May I be submissive to Your will for my life. Amen.
Memory Verse: Acts 2:17-21
17 ‘And it shall be in the last days,’ says God,
‘that I will pour out My Ruach on all flesh.
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My slaves, male and female,
I will pour out My Ruach in those days,
and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will give wonders in the sky above
and signs on the earth beneath—
blood, and fire, and smoky vapor.
20 The sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the great and glorious Day of Adonai comes.
21 And it shall be that everyone who calls
on the name of Adonai shall be saved.
