Red Heifer

Prayer: Father, new discoveries about Your word are available every day. Thank you for new revelations. Amen.

Reading: Numbers 19 key: vs. 1-2
Adonai spoke to Moses and Aaron saying, “This is the statute of the Torah which Adonai commanded saying: Speak to Bnei-Yisrael that they bring to you a flawless red heifer on which there is no blemish and on which has never been a yoke.

Attention: Up until Numbers 19, every sacrifice that is mentioned, required a male, a bull. Now Adonai institutes a Red Heifer (female cow) be sacrificed. The animal still must be “flawless” and have no “blemishes.” The sacrifice was purposed by Adonai to provide a ceremonial cleansing for those who had touched a deceased person.

One of the characteristics of Inductive Bible Study is to look at the scriptures critically, asking who, what, when where and why questions of the text. I did a little research on the topic of the Red Heifer and the why seems to still be a mystery except for ceremonial cleansing. Here is a link to an article on Christianity.com: Do Red Heifers Mean the End Times Are Coming? (christianity.com)

For the New Testament follower of Yeshua, the apostle Paul declares the power and effectiveness of Christ’s shed blood over the sacrifice of “goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer” (Hebrews 9:13-14).

Depending on your dispensational view of scriptures, one could argue that this sacrifice no longer applies. To this argument I would point you to verses in the Numbers 19 passage which are repeated. When Adonai’s declarations are repeated, I argue, He wants our attention, He is making a point. Notice vs. 10b “It will be a permanent statue for Bnei-Yisrael,” and vs. 27a “This will be a permanent ordinance for them.” What does permanent mean? For the house of Israel, the Hebrew nation, this is to be a perpetual or permanent ordinance.

This is why just a couple of years ago, reports were of a shipment of 5 Red Heifers to Israel from a farmer in Texas. Is the ordinance of God being reinstituted? Does this ordinance signal a reinstitution of this sacrifice? Could it also signal the end times and the return of Yeshua?

Action: I choose to pay attention to the details which Adonai ordained to the Hebrew nation.

Yield: I yield my heart, mind, and soul to Adonai.

Engage: I engage with the Word of God in giving me revelation of who God is.

Relationship: I choose relationship with God through His Spirit and Word.

Prayer: Father, thank You for your amazing Word, the Bible. It is instruction for my life. Amen.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 9:14-15
14 how much more will the blood of Messiah—who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God—cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that those called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—since a death has taken place that redeems them from violations under the first covenant.
