Appointed Times

Prayer: Father, there are things which You commanded the Hebrew nation to follow. Things which gave them a prescribed form of worship to follow. May I glean from the scriptures this morning. Amen.

Reading: Numbers 28 key: vs. 1-2
Adonai spoke to Moses saying, “Command Bnei-Yisrael and tell them to be careful to present to Me at the moadim My food offerings by fire as a pleasing aroma.

Attention: The closest thing in the New Testament to the Old Testament prescription we read about today, is the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper or Communion, which we are to do to signify His death till He returns.

Notice first, Adonai gives instruction to Moses to “Command Bnei-Yisrael and tell them to be careful to present to Me at the moadim My food offerings by fire as a pleasing aroma.” This was not a casual request or something to do if you feel like it. It was a “command” of Adonai. This is what you and they are to do. This is what the priestly order were to do in leading the Hebrew nation in worship of Adonai. The priests were kept busy preparing sacrifice for each appointed time.

I did a little research about the Jewish calendar which is different to our Gregorian calendar. How it differs is explained in several sources online. Here is a link to the Jewish Virtual Library: A project of AICE The Jewish Calendar (jewishvirtuallibrary.org), which I think you find interesting.

These appointed times (Moadim) were commanded, prescribed by Adonai and instituted by Moses and the priestly order. They fall on the same day of the Jewish Calendar every year. They are sacred, holy, appointed times.

Action: I choose to include the regular observance of the Communion in my worship of Yeshua.

Yield: I choose to do Communion as a way of fulfilling Yeshua’s command to “do this in remembrance of Me.”

Engage: Worship is engaging my mind, soul, heart, mouth, and body in esteeming Yeshua.

Relationship: I choose to be one with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father, I choose to lift the name of Yeshua, the name above all names. I choose to remember Yeshua by regularly observing the Communion He instituted with His disciples before going to the cross. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you—that the Lord Yeshua, on the night He was betrayed, took matzah;  24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you. Do this in memory of Me.” 25 In the same way, He also took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in memory of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
