Final Directives

Prayer: Father, thank You for recording Your storied relationship with Bnei-Yisrael. Amen.

Reading: Numbers 33 key: vs. 52-53
52 You must drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. You must destroy all their idols and cast images, and demolish their high places. 53 You will take possession of the land, so you will settle in it, because I have given it to you to possess.

Attention: Have you ever reflected back over your life’s journeys? I couldn’t tell you everywhere I have traveled and stopped along the way, but I could tell you that I was born in Wichita, Kansas, and my parents moved to Washington State when I was eight years old. I first went to college at Central Washington and then on to Biola University in California. I lived in California for seven years before returning to Washington State. I consider Washington State as my home, having lived here most of my life.

I couldn’t do what Moses did in telling you everywhere I had camped over the course of 40 years. Where they camped is not as critical as the mandate Adonai gives in the later part of this chapter. Here is His directive to Moses to relay to Bnei-Yisrael, “You must drive out all the inhabitants of the land…. You must destroy all their idols and cast images and demolish all their high places. You will take possession of the land.”

Do you see all the directives of Adonai? You must do as I direct because if you do not do as I say, “Then what I had intended to do to them, I will do to you (vs. 56).” I share this scriptural mandate with you to prepare you for the studies ahead in the book of Joshua. You will observe that at times, they did as Adonai directed and at times, they chose to take their own direction.

The obedience and disobedience we see corporately in the nation of Israel, represents the obedience and rebellion we have observed individually in past scriptural study. There is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9b). Man has not invented new ways to sin.

Are there directives which Adonai has given the Hebrew nation which apply to us? Directives like the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20). What does the Holy Spirit tell you about personal application of the Ten Commandments?

Action: I choose to apply Adonai’s commandments and personal directives to my life.

Yield: I choose to give my heart, mind and soul to Adonai’s directives and commands.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit’s help in living for Yeshua.

Relationship: I choose to live in full relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father, I choose to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. When you moved, the children of Israel moved. When You stayed in one location, they stayed. Their every move was predicated on Your movement. Help me to follow Your directives and scriptural commands. Amen.

Memory Verse: Ecclesiastes 1:9
What has been is what will be,
and what has been done will be done again.
There is nothing new under the sun.
