Prayer: Father, many of us ask for Your blessing. Many of us seek Your blessing. May we discover today what triggers You to bless us. Amen.
Reading: Deuteronomy 14 key: vs. 29
29 Then the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, along with the outsider, the orphan and the widow within your gates, will come and eat and be satisfied, so that Adonai your God may bless you in all the work of your hand that you do.
Attention: If you have been around people of faith, you no doubt have heard prayers yielded up to God which appeal for His blessing. Even over meals we hear, “Bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies.” Have we ever thought that there may be actions on our part which launch God (Adonai) into the action of blessing us?
Adonai has already charged the Hebrew nation with the task of caring for the Levite (Priest) and now He charges the Hebrew nation through Moses, to care for the “outsider, the orphan and the widow.” Adonai places alongside the care for the Levite, the outsider, the orphan, and the widow. They are on par or equal terms.
My experience as a part of the faith community, is that we have elevated the position of the clergy (pastor, priest, rabbi), yet for most of us, the outsider, orphan, and widow have been invisible.
I would encourage you to help your faith community to see this passage of scripture (and there are more), so that we collectively, no long live in violation of that which Adonai has mandated. I also would like to give you a reference book about widows in the bible which I authored titled, The Widows Project: Serving the Widowed With The Father’s Heart.
If we know what will cause God to bless us “in all the work of your hand,” why would we not want to please Him and cause blessing to flow over our lives? I encourage you today to investigate other scriptures in which God promises to bless you. I encourage you to begin with Genesis 12:1-3.
It is your choice, choose blessing or choose curses.
Action: I choose blessing today, by blessing others according to scripture.
Yield: When I yield my heart to Adonai, I am blessed when I bless others.
Engage: I choose to engage in the act of blessing others.
Relationship: I choose to be in life long intimate relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, help me to embrace a lifestyle of blessing others. I pray for the mindset of being a blesser. Amen.
Memory Verse: Genesis 12: 2-3
2 My heart’s desire is to make you into a great nation, to bless you,
to make your name great so that you may be a blessing.
3 My desire is to bless those who bless you,
but whoever curses you I will curse,
and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.
