Prayer: Father, fear is a paralyzing thing. May I heed Your words today and become fearless in Your power. Amen.
Reading: Deuteronomy 20 key: vs. 1
“When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horse and chariot—a people more numerous than you—do not be afraid of them. For Adonai your God, the One who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.
Attention: Have you ever received a communication which immediately strikes fear or anxiety within your heart? Today, my wife alerted me that I was receiving a letter from the IRS. She has an app which alerts you to every piece of mail before you receive it. We filed the tax report for First Place Ministries. I have always had a professional preparer do my taxes. So, immediately, I expected we had done something wrong in filing. We were both relieved to find that it was only a letter verifying a change of address we made when we filed.
Are you worrying about a medical test or a medical concern? Are you worried about a legal issue, or a final exam? There are so many things to worry about that it would be impossible to list them all.
Why do we do that to ourselves, always expecting the worst? We create anxiety and fear over nothing. Perhaps you have heard of the acronym for fear; False Evidence Appearing Real.
Adonai has already told the Hebrew nation, the nations you will destroy are bigger than you, they are fortified, they have advanced weaponry, they have chariots and horses, but you are not to fear them because I am with you, and I will go before you, and defeat them.
Just like the Hebrew nation, we are told not to fear or worry about anything. Jesus told us that the key to anxiety and worry was to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things (provision of food, drink & clothing) shall be added to you (Matthew 6:25, 33).”
Are you the one who is tempted to worry about everything? I encourage you to listen to the words on Jesus and put into practice the key to displacing worry, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”
Action: I choose to replace worry and anxiety with focusing on the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Yield: I give over my right to worry and give over my concerns to Adonai.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Spirit in giving my worries to the Lord.
Relationship: I choose to have a deeper, closer relationship with Adonai today and for eternity.
Prayer: Father, I give my anxieties and worries to You based on 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your worries on Him, for He cares for you.” Amen.
Memory Verse: 1 Peter 5:7
7 Cast all your worries on Him, for He cares for you.
