At What Cost Winning

Prayer: Father, I ask for wisdom in representing You in a journal which will one day be read by someone who needs a word from You. Your wisdom is timeless. Help me to write in a timeless manner. Amen.

Reading: Judges 14 key: vs. 17-18 “But she wept before him the seven days while their banquet lasted. So it was on the seventh day he told her, because she nagged him. Then she told the riddle to the sons of her people. So the men of the city said to him on the seventh day, before the sun went down, “What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?” But he responded to them, “If you hadn’t plowed with my heifer, you wouldn’t have solved my riddle.” TLV

Attention: As a child, did you ever become intrigued with riddles? There are simple ones like, “Riddle: What has to be broken before you can use it?
Answer: An egg” (found online at 101 Best Riddles for Kids and Adults (with Answers) – Parade: Entertainment, Recipes, Health, Life, Holidays).

I used to drive school bus and a favorite one of the riddles I told elementary children was, “Which side of the cow has the most hair?’ Answer: the outside.

In chapter 14 of Judges, the key character, Samsom, poses a riddle to his wedding party of men. Rather than play by rules, his companions approach the one who would know the answer or could find out the answer, his wife to be. They ask her to “coax” him into telling her the answer and they will compensate her for telling them. It is called, winning at all cost.

I have witnessed cheating in business, in the classroom, and on the sports field. Always looking for a competitive edge by bending the rules. Ethics is a high priority for Adonai and for those who follow Him. I encourage you to consider today, your relationship with Adonai who sees and knows all. The things you think you are doing in secret, are not secret at all.

Action: I choose today to live a transparent ethical lifestyle before man and God.

Yield: I choose today to submit my will to the Supremacy of God.

Engage: I choose today to engage with the help of the Holy Spirit in a holy lifestyle.

Relationship: I choose today to stay in close intimate relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, betrayal is a tough thing. Help me to see the big picture, of how You use all things to Your benefit. Thank You for restoring my life, redirecting my life, and using me for Your kingdom. Amen.

Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 16:9a “For the eyes of Adonai range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are wholly His.” TLV
