Prayer: Father, when we become our own center of truth we deceive ourselves. You are Truth and Veracity. In You I find truth and meaning. You are the Way, the Truth, and Life. Amen.
Reading: Judges 17 key: vs. 6 “In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes.” TLV
Attention: Have you heard someone say in our society, “I am my own truth” or, “I have my own truth?” They are saying nothing different than what people are saying today, when they say, “I am my own center of truth.”
This was a dangerous position for Bnei-Yisrael and is likewise for any person. For this attitude dismisses the authority of a sovereign God and the veracity of His scriptures. We will come across this statement again in chapter 21:25. Always watch for scripture which is repetitious. God repeats phrases on purpose to remind us of a concept He wants us to remember.
Jesus said of Himself, “(Yeshua said to him), “I am the way, the truth, and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).” He is the center of truth, the embodiment of truth. Standing before Pilate, Pilate asked Yeshua if He was a king. Here is Jesus’ response to being a King and about truth.
“So Pilate said to Him, “Are you a king, then?” Yeshua answered, “You say that I am a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world, so that I might testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” After he said this, he went out again to the Judean leaders. He said to them, “I find no case against Him.” John 18:37-38 TLV
Truth was standing right before Pilate, yet he could not see the truth. Certainly, a king would fight for an earthly kingdom, wouldn’t He? Yeshua established His Kingdom, which rules over every king on earth.
Is He your King? Do you embrace His Sovereignty? If so, being one of His citizens brings rights and responsibilities. Are you living for the Divine Sovereign of the universe? Remember, you cannot serve two kings. Over the past couple of years, true followers of Yeshua have been tested. Will you follow Him and be obedient to His Truth. Many are experiencing a crisis of identity. Who do I follow? Who do I listen to?
You cannot go wrong following the Truth, the Way, and Life!
Action: I choose today to follow the Sovereign King Yeshua and not the dictates of man.
Yield: I choose today to yield to the Sovereign King Yeshua.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Sovereign embodiment of Truth.
Relationship: I choose to live in intimate, obedient life with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I declare my allegiance to You. I choose obedience to You as the Sovereign of my life. Amen.
