Prayer: Father, You are the great restorer. You know what I have lost in my life, and I look to You to restore what I have lost. Amen.
Reading: 1 Samuel 30 key: vs. 18-19 “So David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken and rescued his two wives. There was nothing of theirs missing, whether young or old, sons or daughters, spoils or anything else that had been carried off—David recovered everything.” TLV
Attention: If you are my age, it is easy to say, “I have lost many things over the course of my life.” I have written about this before, but my parents lost it all in 1960. An economic collapse caused job loss, which dominoed into loss of home and relocation.
I have witnessed the calamities of hurricanes, tornados, and fires in many of our nation’s states. People lost everything; save the clothes they were wearing.
David lost all that was important to him, yet God restored him in full. Nothing was lost. David is not the only man in scripture who lost everything and was restored. Job lost everything in one day, his wealth, his livestock, buildings, and all his children. Overwhelming loss which almost took him out. Yet, the final chapter of Jobs story tells us, “So Adonai restored what Job had lost, after he prayed for his friends and Adonai doubled everything that Job had before” (Job 42:10).
It is God who restores. It was God who restored David with everything he lost. I am still looking for certain areas of my life to be restored, but I am confident that what He has done for David, Job, and my parents, He will do for me and you.
Action: I choose today to trust God to restore that which I have lost.
Yield: I choose today to surrender control to God and allow Him to restore my losses.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in bringing restoration to my life.
Relationship: I choose today to live in intimate, holy relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, I thank You that You are a God of restoration and reconciliation. Thank You for Your restoration work in my life. Amen.
Memory Verse: Job 42:10 “So Adonai restored what Job had lost, after he prayed for his friends and Adonai doubled everything that Job had before.”
