Prayer: Father, may we acknowledge who and what You have anointed and not who we have appointed. Amen.
Reading: 2 Samuel 2 key: vs. 8-11 “Now Abner son of Ner, Saul’s army commander, had taken Saul’s son Ish-bosheth, and brought him over to Mahanaim. Then he made him king over Gilead, Asher, Jezreel, Ephraim, and Benjamin—over all Israel. Saul’s son Ish-bosheth was 40 years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned for two years. But the house of Judah followed David. The time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.” TLV
Attention: There is a difference between anointing and traditions of men. Anointing is the evidence of a Supreme selection, appointing is the selection of men based on physical appearance, earthly wisdom, and perceived power.
In the book of Genesis, we see the first scriptural evidence of the Supreme declaring the anointing and choosing of Isaac over Ishmael. Current groups are trying to promote that Muslims and Christi followers worship the same God because of a common biological father in Abraham. The scriptures reveal that Adonai chose Isaac, and Adonai is the name of the God who Abraham and Isaac served. Adonai is not the god which Ishmael served. Man’s tradition would have named Ishmael as the benefactor of Abraham inheritance by birthright. Yet Adonai declared His chosen would come through Sarah and Abraham’s seed.
Adonai chose and anointed David as the king to succeed Saul. Man’s succession would have been a son of Saul, and Abner (Saul’s commander) tried to install Ish-bosheth over Israel. Thus, it took years for Bnei-Israel to be united under David’s leadership as determined by Adonai. The forces against Adonai’s declaration were at work even in David’s time, to undermine the intentions of God.
I encourage you to seek the mind of God. May we discern who He has anointed to lead us spiritually, nationally, politically. The struggles which haunted Israel after Saul are evidence of the forces which even today, fight with us to kill, steal, and destroy what Adonai has declared as His will.
Attention: I choose today to discern those who have Adonai’s anointing and appointing.
Yield: I choose today to yield to the Ruach Elohim’s transformational mentoring.
Engage: I choose today to engage with the Holy Spirit to seek His anointing.
Relationship: I choose today to live in intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Father, I seek to walk in the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Give me the Spirit anointed discernment to know who You have anointed and appointed for this season of life. Amen.
Memory Verse: 1 John 2: 26-28 “I have written you these things about those who are trying to mislead you. As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things—and it is true and not a lie—and just as it has taught you, abide in Him. And now, children, abide in Him, so that when He appears we will have confidence and not be ashamed in His presence at His coming. TLV
