Prayer: Father, David felt humble and undeserving of Your favor. I too have felt undeserving of Your love, grace, and mercy. Thank You for Your unmerited grace. Amen.
Reading: 2 Samuel 7 key: vs. 18-24 “Then King David went in and sat before Adonai and said, “Who am I, my Lord Adonai, and what is my family, that You have brought me this far? Yet this was a small thing in Your eyes, my Lord Adonai—for You have spoken also of Your servant’s house for the distant future. This is a revelation for humanity, my Lord Adonai. What more can David add in speaking to You? For You already know Your servant, my Lord Adonai. For the sake of Your word and according to Your own heart, You have done everything great, revealing this to Your servant. Therefore You are great, my Lord Adonai! For there is none like You, and there is no other God besides You, as we all have heard with our ears. What one nation on earth is like Your people, like Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a Name, to do for You a great thing and awesome deeds for Your land, before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt—driving out nations and their gods? So You established for Yourself Your people Israel as Your very own people forever, and You, Adonai, have become their God.” TLV
Attention: Have you ever had a dream which was interpreted for you? Have you ever had a prophet or prophetic person have a dream which was meant for you, and they revealed it to you? The prophet Nathan is again the messenger God used to deliver good news to David about what He promised to do for David. Please see the bigger picture. The promise of God was not only to establish peace, make David a house, a ruler over “My” people, or make David’s name great. Adonai promised to do two eternal things; “So your house and your kingship will be secure forever before you; your throne will be established forever” (vs. 16).
How did God establish David’s house and throne forever? Please look at Matthew 1: 1-6a, “genealogy of Yeshua ha-Mashiach, Ben-David, Ben-Avraham,” from Yeshua to King David. The fulfillment of God’s promise was manifest in Jesus through the royal lineage of David.
Like David, we may ask God, “who am I”, that You have used me in Your Kingdom. To some He gives one gifting, to another a different gifting and role. In humility, David accepted the promise’s given Him by Adonai. David understands God in a new way. He recognizes the character of God as a redeemer (vs. 23), as the only God (vs. 28), “Your words are truth (vs. 28),” and You keep Your promises. What God has purposed; He will see to fulfillment. His foreknowledge knows our heart, just as He knew David’s.
May you receive today the revelation which David received centuries ago of the things which God purposed to do with David, for David, and through David. His promises, like His Word, are eternal.
Action: I choose to receive the promises of God for David as eternal promises “for humanity” (vs. 19b).
Yield: I choose to yield to the Adonai’s plan for redemption through David’s lineage, through Yeshua.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit’s revelation to David, of a coming Messiah.
Relationship: I choose to live in intimate relationship with Adonai, in the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the example of David, who was given a revelation by You, through the prophet Nathan. I embrace Your promise to David, fulfilled in Yeshua. Amen.
Memory Verse: Matthew 1: 1 “The book of the genealogy of Yeshua ha-Mashiach, Ben-David, Ben-Avraham.” TLV
