Jehu Was Not Careful

Prayer: Father, may I learn from the example of Jehu today. I pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in making wise choices and decisions which are wholly for God. Amen.

Reading: 2 Kings 10 key: vs. 30-31a “Now Adonai had said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing what is right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, your sons of the fourth generation will sit on the throne of Israel.” Yet Jehu was not careful to walk in the Torah of Adonai, God of Israel, with all his heart.” TLV

Attention: Around 2008 I had a General Contracting License, and I received a call from a client to help them with an issue in their laundry room. They had bought a new construction home at an auction and now that they had possession, they discovered that the builder had overlooked the addition of a dryer vent in the laundry room. A small detail but a big issue if a person wanted to get their laundry dry. The builder had done well in the building of the new construction house, except for one detail which he overlooked.

We are told today that Jehu had “done well” by executing the house of Ahab, yet he failed to “walk in the Torah of Adonai, God of Israel, with all his heart.”

We are given the same command by Yeshua, “And you shall love Adonai your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength (Mark 12: 30).” The word which jumps off the page in this scripture is the word “all.” All is repeated three times. All is complete with nothing held back.

Are you holding something back? Is there a room in your heart which you are holding back from God? Do not be deceived by thinking that God does not know your heart. He knew Jehu’s heart and He knows your heart. It does no good to deceive yourself or try to deceive others with a form of godliness. God wants, God demands our whole heart, “all.”

Action: I choose to live for Adonai with all my heart.

Yield: I choose to give Adonai first place and love Him with all my heart.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in living for Yeshua.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimacy with God.

Prayer: Father, help me to live for You with all my heart. Help me to love You with all my heart, mind, and soul. Amen.

Memory Verse: Mark 12: 30 “And you shall love Adonai your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” TLV
