Prayer: Father, instruct Your servant today as the Potter of my life. Amen.
Reading: Isaiah 64 key: vs. 20-21 “But who in the world are you, O man, who talks back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?” Does the potter have no right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honor and another for common use?” TLV
Attention: I journaled yesterday about acknowledging both your biological father and Spiritual Father. I can remember hearing schoolmates say in protest, “what gave their biological father the right to establish the rules of the house.” Having been raised in a home that established biblically the existence of a heavenly Father and Creator, it was never difficult for me to embrace the concept of a Supreme Creator who made me and established a law based on His Supremacy.
Yet, unregenerate man, shakes his fist at Adonai (God) and says, “How dare You.” Are there those who claim to be of the faith community who act defiantly as scripture declares God (Adonai) as the Potter? Such actions are understandable from those who want to be independent and self-governing. Their actions in themselves point to the awareness and existence of a Sovereign.
Have you accepted your relationship with Adonai as Potter and clay? I had a brief association in college with a young man who enjoyed working with clay and making pottery. I visited his home where he had a small kiln where he would fire clay to create pottery. As the artist, his pottery represented his designs and wishes. Never did he mention the potter rebelling about how he designed them.
It seems odd to me that we as His creation, would rebel over how we were formed. What we rebel over is His rules. Are we willing to submit to His Supremacy and His rights to establish the rules for His kingdom?
Action: I acknowledge the Supremacy of Adonai to make me into His design.
Yield: I choose to submit to my Creator.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Spirit of God in relationship to Sovereignty of Adonai.
Relationship: I choose to live in personal obedient relationship with my Creator.
Prayer: Father, I choose to live in submitted holy relationship with You. Thank You for the intimate way You guide me each day. Order my steps. Amen.
Memory Verse: Romans 9:27-33 “Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “Though the number of B’nei-Israel be as the sand of the sea, only the remnant shall be saved. For Adonai will carry out His word upon the earth, bringing it to an end and finishing quickly.” And just as Isaiah foretold, “Unless Adonai-Tzva’ot had left us seed, we would have become like Sodom and resembled Gomorrah.” What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness—that is, a righteousness of faith. But Israel, who pursued a Torah of righteousness, did not reach the Torah. Why? Because they pursued it not by faith, but as if it were from works. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling, just as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, and whoever believes in Him shall not be put to shame.” TLV
