Bread and Water

Prayer: Father, Your bread is available in abundance when I go to the source. You are the bread of life! In You I find my strength and sustenance. Amen.

Reading: Ezekiel 4:16-17 “Then he said to me, “Son of man, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem. They will eat bread by weight, in anxiety, and they will drink water by measure, in horror. On account of their lack of bread and water they will be appalled at one another and waste away in their iniquity.” TLV

Attention: I can remember a time when I was an early car owner, that America experienced a gas shortage. We had certain days on which we could line up at a gas station. Only a certain amount was allotted to each car. You were not allowed to fill your tank.

I remember times that reservoir levels were low, and people were asked voluntarily, not to water their lawns.

As a part of the judgement on Jerusalem, bread once plentiful, would now be scarce. Even water was going to be rationed. When people begin starving, they get desperate. Adonai says through Jeremiah, “they will be appalled at one another and waste away in their iniquity.” Appalled means to be horrified or dismayed. Perhaps even offended that their sin (iniquity) was being exposed.

Would they become desperate enough to repent? Adonai called them hardheaded (Ezekiel 3:8-9). We may need to allow the Holy Spirit to give us a heart check. Has your heart become hard towards God? Are you stubborn in response to the Holy Spirit?

Yeshua said He was the “Bread of Life (John 6:35)” and “Living Water (John 4:14). Daily bread and living water are available all the time. Are you receiving His bread and water in abundance? This is the Choose Life method of coming to the table of God and being filled by His Word and Spirit.

Action: I choose to eat daily from the Word and Spirit.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Spirit of God and feed from His Word daily.

Engage: I choose to engage daily with the Word and Spirit.

Relationship: I choose to live in daily lifestyle relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, prayer provides and creates a line of communication with You. May I nourish my heart, mind, and soul, on Your Word anointed Your Spirit. Amen.

Memory Verse: John 4:14 “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!” TLV
