Penalty of an Exalted Heart

Prayer: Father, allow me to never think too highly of myself. I am not You nor do I want to pretend or represent that I am You. You alone are Adonai Elohim. Amen.

Reading: Ezekiel 28 key: vs. 1-2 “The word of Adonai came to me saying: “Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘So your heart is exalted and you say, “I am a god! I sit in the seat of the gods in the heart of the seas!” Yet you are human, not a god, even if you set up your heart like the heart of a god.” TLV

Attention: There is a real danger in exalting yourself to equality with God, Adonai. The folly of Satan was to aspire to be like God. The prophet Isaiah describes the fall of Satan, “How you have fallen from heaven, O brightstar, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the earth, you who made the nations prostrate! You said in your heart: “I will ascend to heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit upon the mount of meeting, in the uttermost parts of the north. I will ascend above the high places of the clouds— I will make myself like Elyon (14:12-14).”

Notice the boastful statements which all begin with “I will” and end with “I will make myself like Elyon.”

I am reminded of King Nebuchadnezzar when he walked out upon his terrace and looked over the city he had built and exclaimed “Is this not the great Babylon that I have built as the royal residence by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?” The words were still in the king’s mouth when a voice fell from heaven. “King Nebuchadnezzar, it has been decreed to you that your kingdom has been removed from you! You will be driven away from men and you will live with the beasts of the field (Daniel 4:27b-29).”

Fortunately, king Nebuchadnezzar came to his senses and his kingdom was restored to him.

A relationship with Adonai consists of taking ourselves off the throne of our heart and allowing Him to assume His rightful position as Lord. Our relationship with Adonai is in proper alignment when He is on the throne, and we are His servants/slaves/worshippers.

Action: I choose to acknowledge Adonai as Supreme and Lord of my life.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Supremacy of Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy One as supreme.

Relationship: I choose to live with Adonai in intimate, holy, obedient relationship.

Prayer: Father, I pray for all who read today’s scripture. May Your word be heard and not be ignored. May those who follow You choose to take themselves off the throne of their heart and submit to Your Spirit fully. Amen.

Memory Verse: Psalms 97:9 “For You, Adonai, are Elyon above all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods.” TLV
