Has This Ever Happened?

Prayer: Father, I desire to see the Holy Spirit move as in the days of the book of Acts. May it be so! Amen.

Reading: Joel 1 key: vs. 2-3 “Hear this, elders! Give ear, all inhabitants of the land. Has this ever happened in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? Tell your children about it— your children to their children, their children to another generation” TLV

Attention: I have heard and seen pictures of swarms of insects invading other nations. But according to Wikipedia, in 1874 the U.S. Great Plains experienced the Locust Plague of 1874, or the Grasshopper Plague of 1874, occurred when hordes of Rocky Mountain locusts invaded the Great Plains in the United States and Canada. The locust hordes covered about 2,000,000 square miles (5,200,000 km2) and caused millions of dollars’ worth of damage. The swarms were so thick that they could cover the sun for up to six hours.

Efforts were made to stop the infestation, including eating the locusts. Following the plague, the population of Rocky Mountain locusts continued to decline each year after 1874 and in spring 1875, many of the hatched locust eggs died due to frost, contributing to their eventual extinction.

Joel tells the people of Israel to tell their children and their children’s children. In other words, leave a heritage. I began recording my daily encounters with God and His word twenty years ago as a legacy to my children. We can leave them with stories about how tough it was walking to public school, or hunting, or fishing experience. But do those experiences have eternal significance?

I am looking forward to the third chapter of Joel, where Adonai tells him of a day when He “(I) will pour out My Ruach on all flesh.” Now that is something I want to experience with my family, my son, and my daughters. We are experiencing a return to Joel’s prophecy which Luke quotes in 2:17-21. These are those latter days which he refers to.

Action: I choose to embrace the importance of sharing and declaring my faith in Yeshua to my children and my children’s children.

Yield: I choose to submit to the Lord’s declaration to tell my children of His greatness.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Ruach in leaving a faith legacy to my children.

Relationship: I choose to live in relationship with Adonai.

Prayer: Father, there is no exception to leaving a faith legacy to one’s children, if you believe in the Your Supremacy. There is no other god before You and their will never be any other. Soli Deo Gloria! To You alone belongs the glory! Amen.

Memory Verse: Joel 1:3 “Tell your children about it— your children to their children, their children to another generation.”
