David Grew More Powerful

Prayer: Father, my life is anchored in You. You promise that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. I promise to draw near to You, every day. Amen.

Reading: 1 Chronicles 11 key: vs. 9-10 “David grew more and more powerful because. Now these were chiefs of David’s mighty men, who strongly supported him in his kingdom, together with all Israel to make him king, according to the word of Adonai, over Israel.” TLV

Attention: How many of you men desire to grow more and more powerful? I remember my son growing up had Underoo’s underwear, which featured various television characters such as Batman and Superman. He would run around in his Underoo’s pretending to be his superheroes.

David grew “more and more powerful” because the God of the Hebrews, because “Adonai-Tzva’ot was with him.” His relationship with God, caused him to grow more and more powerful. David’s relationship with God caused him to build the city of Jebus, that is Jerusalem, which became known as “the city of David.” Kings build cities and kingdoms.

When we are close to God, we will build His kingdom, because God is a kingdom builder! David was able to build God’s kingdom on earth because God was building David up. He grew stronger and stronger, more powerful, and increasingly powerful. David did not do all this building on his own. God surrounded David with “mighty men” who “strongly supported him in his kingdom.” Did you catch that? David had God building him up and the support of “mighty men.” All was God caused!

Kings build kingdoms. Men who are mighty in the Lord, help God build His kingdom. Are you participating in building God’s kingdom? Are you mighty in the Lord? How you answer those two questions is all important. If you are not participating in building His kingdom, why not? If you are not mighty in the Lord, why not?

The first step is getting close to God by getting into His word. When we get into God’s word, His word gets into us and transforms us. I encourage you to begin a new life with God.

Action: I choose to live a life submitted unto Adonai. I choose to be a Kingdom builder.

Yield: I choose to live a life yielded to Adonai.

Engage: I choose to engage in Kingdom building with the help of the Ruach.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedience unto Adonai.

Prayer: Father, I love living my life with You. Draw me closer! I desire to be a Kingdom builder for You. Amen.

Memory Verse: Matthew 6:9-13 “Therefore, pray in this way: ‘Our Father in heaven, sanctified be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ TLV
