She Despised Him

Prayer: Father, there is so much to learn about Your ways. So much to understand about the inner man. Thank You for loving me. Amen.

Reading: 11 Chronicles 15 key: vs. 29 “As the Ark of the Covenant of Adonai came to the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked out the window. When she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him in her heart.” TLV

Attention: Have you ever had your actions before the Lord misunderstood? Many times I was asked why a single man founded a widow’s organization. Understand that while the organization was primarily for women (there are more widows than widowers), we included ministry to men also. From a worldly mindset, I understand. In the Spirit, I was being obedient. From scripture, I saw the widow being addressed as a person who was being overlooked and minimized by those mandated to care for the widow.

We are not told specifically why Michal, “Saul’s daughter,” despised David for “dancing and celebrating” before the Lord. Maybe it was because her father was the former king, and she was being loyal to her father. Or was it that she thought it unbecoming (he was half -dressed) of a king. Regardless, the condition of her heart was that she loathed him, she despised her own husband. Her attitude caught God’s attention and His discipline. For Michal never had children (2 Samuel 6:23), God did not open her womb.

If you are married, respect is a significant factor in God’s system of husband-and-wife relationships. Men we are task with loving our wives, full stop. Whether you are respected or not. Allow God to deal with her and continue loving her. Each of us are accountable to God for our attitudes and actions.

Action: I choose to follow the declarations and commands of the Lord, for relationship with Him and others.

Yield: I choose to submit to the sovereignty of God and His Lordship over me.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Ruach in living a life of submission and obedience to God.

Relationship: I choose to live in humble obedience unto God.

Prayer: Father, I love You. I choose to live a life of obedience unto You. I choose to learn from the life lessons recorded in scriptures. Amen.

Memory Verse: Ephesians 5:25-26 “Husbands, love your wives just as Messiah also loved His community and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, having cleansed her by immersion in the word.” TLV
