Prayer: Father, a timely topic for sure. I am attentive, speak to me through David’s life. Amen.
Reading: 1 Chronicles 21 key: vs. 8 “Then David said to God, “I have sinned greatly by doing this. But now, I entreat you, take away the guilt of Your servant for I have behaved very foolishly.” TLV
Attention: Have you ever done something foolish? Have you ever been influenced demonically to do something or say something to someone? I have done many foolish things. As I look back on my life, I would say that I have been influenced demonically to do or say something which hurt someone. During my lifetime, there was a time when the church preached there was a demon behind every bush, while the world tried to convince you that the satan did not exist or was fictitious.
The apostle Matthew records this exchange with Peter; “From that time on, Yeshua began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and ruling kohanim and Torah scholars, and be killed, and be raised on the third day. Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Never, Master! This must never happen to You!” But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, satan! You are a stumbling block to Me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but the things of men.” Then Yeshua said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me (Matthew 16:21-24).”
There was a time that I was living a double life. I was doing one thing on Sunday, another during the week. I was involved in secret sin. I remember one time coming out of a store with an adult magazine. It was in a bag, but a young man I knew at my church appeared. I am not sure if he knew what I was carrying, but I felt he did. Immediately, I wondered if I had been a stumbling block to him.
Peter did not understand at the time what he was doing. However, the Lord rebuked him as being demonically influenced by satan. Are we influencing someone for the kingdom or being a stumbling block? May we quickly identify those moments when satan is tempting us or trying to lead us astray. He seeks to destroy you. May we not be incited by satan, like David, to do wrong.
Action: I choose to not be used by demonic influence but live for Yeshua.
Yield: I choose to submit to the sovereignty of God!
Engage: I choose to engage with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Relationship: I choose to live in intimate, obedient relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, I repent of the times in the past in which I have listened to the demonic voice saying, “its ok, no one will know.” However, You know everything and see everything. Nothing is hidden from You. I seek to glorify You in all that I do and say! Amen.”
Memory Verse: Hebrews 4:13 “No creature is hidden from Him, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” TLV
