Prayer: Father, I have so much to learn about You and Your ways. Teach me today! Your servant is ready and prepared to listen and learn. Amen.
Reading: 2 Chronicles 36 key: vs. 22-23 “Now in the first year of King Cyrus of Persia—fulfilling the word of Adonai by the mouth of Jeremiah—Adonai stirred up the spirit of King Cyrus of Persia so that he sent a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing, saying: “Thus says King Cyrus of Persia ‘Adonai, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build Him a House in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever among you of all His people may go up and may Adonai his God be with him.’” TLV
Attention: Did you catch that? Adonai though the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah, prophecies the return of His people; “For behold, the days are coming,” declares Adonai, “when I will return My people Israel and Judah from exile,” declares Adonai. “I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they will possess it (Jeremiah 30:3).”
What God declared through His prophet; He fulfilled through a Persian King named Cyrus. God showed His sovereignty through a Gentile (Persian) king. He can and does move the hearts of all kings. Even Solomon confirmed the truth of this statement, “A king’s heart is like a stream of water in the hand of Adonai; he directs it wherever He wants (Proverbs 21:1).” As a king himself, he should know.
Our God (Adonai) has the sovereign power in both heaven and earth. He is above all gods and kings. The sooner that we all grasp the veracity (truth) of His sovereignty, the sooner that all things fall into place.
It was Adonai who directed the heart of king Cyrus to return His people and to rebuild the Temple. What an amazing miracle at the hand of God. He can perform the same miracle today.
Action: I choose to embrace the sovereignty of God and call on Him to move the hearts of kings.
Yield: I choose to submit to the sovereignty of God.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in moving the hearts of kings.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with Adonai.
Prayer: Father, I embrace Your sovereignty as the supreme ruler of heaven and earth. I praise You; I glorify You. You reign over my heart. Amen.
Memory Verse: Proverbs 20:1 “A king’s heart is like a stream of water in the hand of Adonai; he directs it wherever He wants.” TLV
