Reading: Song of Songs 1 key: vs. 1-2 “The song of songs of Solomon. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine.” TLV

Attention: Our study of Song of Songs comes at an interesting timing for me. My wedding anniversary is in about two weeks. At seventy-one years of age, there is much to learn about life in God’s word, and especially about love.

Allow me to say, that love is a lifelong journey and study. None of us have mastered love as defined by God. Maybe that is why God talks about love so much in His book. We obtain a foundation for love from the apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthian faithful. He focusses on what love “is” and what love “does not” manifest as. Paul concludes (1 Corinthians) chapter 13 by saying, “But now these three remain— faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.”

So, why wouldn’t the author of Song of Songs, make the claim that this scripture is the Song of all Songs, in capturing the essence and importance of love in all its manifesting ways. God created man and woman, and He created the differences and attractions between the two.

So, may we learn afresh and anew about the physical miracle of love.

Action: I choose to learn and embrace a fuller, deeper, meaning of love from the scriptures.

Yield: I choose to submit to the God who loves us so much.

Engage: I choose to engage with the spirit in loving my wife more deeply.

Relationship: I choose to live in intimate, holy, obedient love with God.

Prayer: Father, I love You. Help me to love like You love. Help me to love my wife as You do. May she see You in and through me. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 14:8 “Love never fails— but where there are prophecies, they will pass away; where there are tongues, they will cease; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” TLV
