The Wise & The Fool

Prayer: Father, Your wisdom is far superior to my wisdom. May I learn from the wisest person who ever lived. Amen.

Reading: Ecclesiastes 10 key: vs. 2-3 “The heart of the wise is to his right, and the heart of the fool is to his left. Even as the fool walks along the way, his heart lacks sense and tells everyone what a fool he is.” TLV

Attention: From years past, the side of justice, authority, and wisdom is to the right. The author declares that the “heart of the wise is to his right.” Biblically, we see that Yeshua (Jesus) is seated at the “right hand” of the Father (Luke 22:69, Acts 2:33: Acts 7:55-56, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 12:2).

Likewise, the “heart of the fool” is to the left. Throughout this tenth chapter of Ecclesiastes, the author contrasts the actions of the wise and the actions of the fool.

Can we determine that the wisdom of God and Scripture steer us to the right and not the ways of the foolish? Can we determine that the fool is opposed to God and will not listen or give heed to God? The ultimate rebellion of a fool is found in Psalms 14:1 The fool said in his heart: “There is no God.”

I encourage you to think upon the words of the Psalmist. The fool not only says there is no God, but he is also rebellious in all his ways and rebellion begins in the heart.

Action: I choose to listen and heed the wisdom of God.

Yield: I choose to submit to the wisdom of God.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in seeking the wisdom of God.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, intimate, obedient relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, Your wisdom comes from above! Help me to seek Your wisdom. Amen.

Memory Verse: Jacob (James) 3:17-18 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, not hypocritical. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in shalom by those who make shalom.” TLV
