Conspiracy to Assassinate

Prayer: Father, the account of Hadassah is as intriguing as any modern-day conspiracy. May I see Your providential hand in this story as in my own life. Amen.

Reading: Esther 1-2 key: 2:21-23 “In those days while Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs who guarded the doorway, became angry and conspired to assassinate King Ahasuerus. But Mordecai found out about the plot and told it to Queen Esther. Esther informed the king in Mordecai’s name. When the matter was investigated and found to be so, they were both hanged on a gallows. It was then written in the book of the chronicles in the king’s presence.” TLV

Attention: Have we heard anything in the news lately about conspiracy and assassination attempts? Assassination and conspiracy are nothing new. They both have been enacted for centuries in all cultures. Man striving against man, following their own evil desires, influenced by the evil one.

In God’s providential ways, he places the right person in the right place at the right time. We will see this same providential theme throughout the story of Esther. Esther is an orphan, raised by her uncle Mordecai. She is in the right place to participate in a beauty contest. Mordecai is at the right place to overhear a conspiracy against the king. Esther is in the right place as Queen, to reveal the plot against the king and later, the plot against her native heritage, the Jews. The king has a restless night and calls for the reading of the king’s chronicles. The reading reveals the king has forgotten to honor Mordecai. Too many coincidences to be coincidental. God in His providence has been faithful to the His chosen people.

God’s providence is real my friends. I have experienced numerous manifestations of His providence in my life. I have also experienced numerous divine appointments or what I call serendipities. I have had several divine appointments come to my front door recently. Are you watching for divine appointments? I trust that you are and that you thank God for His divine appointments and providential care.

Action: I choose to live a life filled with God’s providence and serendipities.

Yield: I choose to submit to the supremacy of God’s providence and serendipities.

Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit ordering my steps.

Relationship: I choose to live in holy, divine, obedient relationship with God.

Prayer: Father, may I be ever cognizant of Your providential ways. May my life be filled with divine appointments with people who need healing, deliverance, and discipleship. Amen.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 13:1-2 “Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers—for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.” TLV
