Prayer: Father, teach your servant/slave today. Amen.
Reading: Esther 9-10 key: 9:24-28 “For Haman, son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had schemed against the Jews to destroy them and had cast the pur—that is, the lot—to ruin and destroy them. But when it came to the king’s attention, he issued a written edict that the wicked scheme Haman had devised against the Jews should come back on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows. (For this reason, these days were called Purim, from the word pur.) Therefore because of everything in this letter and because of what they had seen and what had happened to them, the Jews established and took upon themselves, upon their descendants, and upon all who joined with them, that they would commemorate these two days in the way prescribed and at the appointed time every year. These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family and in every province and every city. These days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor their remembrance perish from their descendants.” TLV
Attention: Being on the Greek side of Christianity, I have not paid attention to the Jewish and Messianic side of Festivals and Holy Days. A Festival (Purim) was announced and celebrated over the foiled scheme of Haman to exterminate (genocide) the entire Jewish culture. There are more people than Haman who hate the Jews and there have been other attempts at extermination. Understand that all hatred of the Jewish people is a spiritual battle. The Jewish nation is God’s chosen people, and they always will be. His covenants with Israel are forever (eternal). To fight against Israel is to fight against God.
The two days of celebration mentioned in today’s key scripture (above), fall on the Jewish calendar in the month of Adar (March 14-15). I hope from focusing on the meaning and purpose of Purim, that the Jewish celebration will have more significance for you from now on.
The hatred of the Jew continues today. Unless we understand the roots of Jewish hatred, we cannot understand the Jewish people or their nation, and embrace the world narrative against them.
Action: I choose to embrace a biblical view of the forever covenant which God made with Israel.
Yield: I choose to submit to the sovereignty of God.
Engage: I choose to engage with the Holy Spirit in embracing God’s chosen people.
Relationship: I choose to live in holy, obedient relationship with God.
Prayer: Father, all people are loved by You. However, You made an eternal, forever covenant with Israel. I ask that You open the eyes of all Greeks in understanding Your relationship with Israel. Amen.
Memory Verse: Genesis 17:7-8 “Yes, I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, in order to be your God and your seed’s God after you. I will give to you and to your seed after you the land where you are an outsider —the whole land of Canaan—as an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.” TLV
